Game Changer – Update 3 Years Later
3 Year and Second Baby Update!!:We just had our second born 6 weeks ago and I came back to update this review because I feel that strongly about this pillow. Everything I wrote before still holds true. We are using the exact same pillow that we purchased for our first. It is a little softer but still so much more firm than any other pillow weâve ever used, the back piece hasnât kept its perfect shape, but thatâs to be expected considering I used it so many times daily for an entire year of feeding my first. Once again I feel like it has saved my breastfeeding journey. If someone asked me, this pillow would hands down be the number one item I recommended someone place on their baby registry. Our son was born with a seriously horrible latch. I was gifted several Boppy pillows at our baby shower. Upon coming home from the hospital I was excited to try them out and see if they aided in positioning and thus his latch. A week of trying to manage those flimsy pillows and both baby and I were FRUSTRATED. I would use two at once, use one with additional pillows on either side, use one with a towel rolled under his head, etc. Baby was uncomfortable from sliding around and constantly being repositioned while trying eat and my nipples were taking a beating from a bad latch made worse by inadequate positioning. A lactation consultant suggested trying the Breast Friend pillow and it immediately changed our breast feeding journey. It didnât completely solve the latch issues that we were having, but it made both of us comfortable enough that we could easily work through them. The best parts of this pillow include:1. It attaches to you so you can get situated and prepped and then pick up your little one and place them on you. In comparison, the Boppy does not stay in place whatsoever. Often it would slip off of me or slide while I was seated and nursing- causing baby to slide down and tug at the nipples.2. It is also a stiffer foam which helps keep baby right where you put them and decreases fatigue on momâs arms.3. The pocket is a nice added feature as you can keep nipple shields, cream, pads, etc in there for safe keeping.4. The lumbar support really does help keep my lower back comfortable when feeding.Food for thought:1. Our birth was a cesarean and when I first tried this pillow I was 1 week post partum. As to be expected, it was mildly uncomfortable pressing on my abdomen. I suppose you could not tighten the strap as much, but the pillow would not stay on as well. I found that it was mild enough and helpful enough to keep using it.2. I wish that the fabric was coated with a waterproof liner on the inside. Baby has had two blowouts while eating that have discolored the foam pillow.3. It is difficult to get the cover on after washing as some others have commented. Just take your time and be patient. The foam around the back lumbar area acts like it could easily tear if manipulated too harshly.4. The first couple of weeks we exclusively used the football hold. I slid the pillow to be slightly off center to help with this position. Once baby figured out his latch a little better, we switched to cross hold and this pillow became even more comfortable for us.Once Baby gets bigger and has better control of his head and body the Boppy may work better for some. But for right now, we are 5 weeks PP and this pillow continues to be the most used baby item we purchased. While it was pricey for a pillow, I would gladly purchase again for the difference it made in breast feeding.

The BEST nursing pillow! Helps take some of the struggle out of breastfeeding …
This nursing pillow has been a lifesaver! I’m curvier (5’9″, currently a size 18 at 3 weeks post-delivery, carry most of my weight in my midsection), and the Boppy I received as a shower gift didn’t fit around me comfortably. Regular bed pillows were too squishy and a big hassle. My daughter was having latch issues due to positioning, and I was in so much pain that I was ready to give up on breastfeeding. A friend let me try her My Brest Friend pillow, and the difference it made was remarkable!Pros:- because it fastens around you, it prevents you from having to constantly adjust it, and it keeps both hands free to position the baby correctly. Plus it gives you support in the back.- firm and flat so my daughter stays in place while nursing.- I can fasten it high enough so that it wasn’t resting on my incision while I was healing after my c-section.- has a pocket for keeping snacks, a burp cloth and my daughter’s pacifier.Cons:- the cover isn’t the best. It’s very thin, rough cotton, and while the softness has improved with washing, it has faded a lot and I’m worried it won’t hold up that long. I’ve only had it for 2 weeks, but the cover looks years old (I have to wash it several times a week because my daughter spits up a lot).- the buckle. My friend’s pillow has the “deluxe” cover, which is a solid color fleece that has a velcro closure instead of the buckle. The velcro definitely has more room/length for adjustment, so you might want to consider it if you’re plus sized. The buckle is also advertised on the packaging as being “silent” when you release it so that it doesn’t wake up a baby who’s fallen asleep nursing. It’s not. Thankfully my daughter doesn’t wake easily. The velcro would be probably be louder though.- not waterproof, but this is easily fixed. Other reviewers suggested taking the cover off and then putting the plastic packaging that the pillow comes in over the foam insert, zipping it, and then zipping the cover over top of the plastic. This keeps spit up and milk from seeping into the foam, and it makes putting the cover back on after washing it SO MUCH EASIER because it just slides over the plastic. The plastic does make the pillow noisy, but if you have a spitty baby like I do, you have to protect the foam or you’re going to end up with a smelly mess.I can’t say enough about how much I love this thing and how much it’s helped me with breastfeeding. I will be recommending it to all of my friends and probably be giving it as a shower gift in the future.

Supportive, keeps baby’s head at breast level
I first bought a Boppy and didn’t like how the sides weren’t supportive and it kept slipping and I needed extra blankets under my baby’s head. This pillow is much more supportive. It’s firmer, and the sides wrap all the way around. You do need to be gentle with the foam, I suspect it could break or tear if handled aggressively. But overall I prefer this pillow to the Boppy. I still usually use an additional blanket under my elbow to provide support for baby, but at least this one isn’t slipping and stays at breast level. Plus the pocket is handy. Recommend!

Good Support but Limited Use
Bought it for my wife after my daughter was born. This nursing pillow offers great support and works well for breastfeeding, especially when the baby is still small. It provides a comfortable position for both mom and baby, making feedings easier. However, it does require some adjustment to get it just right, and its usefulness is somewhat short-lived as the baby grows.itâs a helpful tool for new moms during the early stages. The quality is good, and it serves its purpose well within that limited time frame. A solid product overall, but be mindful of its short-term use.

For breastfeeding this pillow has been a life changer! Before purchasing this I was using multiple pillows, or Ikea shaped breast feeding pillow which did not fit around me and was too firm for baby. I was shifting my baby around too much and baby was cranky and couldn’t lie down comfortably to feed. This fits around me well, baby is much less irritable, feeds well, able to lie down comfortably, I like that this has a buckle, the cover can be removed and washed. I also like the little pocket to hold something I need. The cost is slightly on the expensive side but for the comfort and convenience of feeding baby – it seems to be worth it in the two days and nights (especially) that I have used it.My newborn rolls so that is the only thing I would advise parents is that if you are not supporting baby well, they can roll off of this and fall.

This was recommend to me by my midwife and now I know why! Great quality and excellent support. The clip makes the pillow so comfortable because it doesnât move, and the back support is small but makes a big difference. I also have a boppy nursing pillow but prefer this one & hardly use my boppy.

I didnât think a nursing pillow was a necessary product when having a newborn but I am so glad I bought it. It makes feeding the baby a million times easier. The pillow is firm and lightweight. The strap is good quality and also huge so it goes around your belly easily even if youâre a big person. The pillow has to raised areas that serve as both pillows for the babyâs head and for you to prop your hand or arm if needed. The cover is super easy to take off, wash and put back on. The little pocket on the front is useful to hold soothers or bibs and light items like that, but I wouldnât recommend holding your phone in it as phones are heavy and pull down the pillow.

This is the best thing to happen for breastfeeding for me! Wasn’t sure I needed a nursing pillow at first but this changed my mind. I went with this because it’s similar to the ones in the hospital that I saw. It provides such good back support which I desperately needed. Also great head support for the baby. This is good because it gives your arms and hands a rest. Great product, would recommend over other decorative pillows.
