Amazing & Educational Book
The writer maintained a balance of speaking about the herb, cautious tips, how to identify it, where to find it, and beautiful pictures. This was great to learn! It is a companion if you are ever in a herb shop. You’ll know what to buy and how to prepare it (tincture vs. tea, etc). It also is a companion for when you are out in nature. The book also tells me what I need, why I need it, and how to prepare it. I’ve read herbal books before, but this is direct to the point. I don’t need every herb in the forest and the writer stuck to the main points. The length of the book was perfect for a beginner. I really do hope she comes out with an intermediate and an advanced version. It would be helpful to continue learning. One thing I didn’t realize until I read, people tend to think more of something is better, but the writer explained that is not the case. As a nurse, I am familiar with the fact that many medications are plant based, such as antibiotics, heart medicines (such as digitalis), and hormone replacement for menopausal women. I am going to add the knowledge that I learned here and implement into my life!

Aspiring Herbalists Begin Here! Awesome Book.
Herbal remedies, something I’ve heard a lot about, but hadn’t dabbled in until I got this book!Along with a recent astrocartography read, I’m beginning to feel more and more natural. Wonderful.I would describe this as a beginners books for sure, and I was really pleased with how easy it was to pick up and understand. The instructions are easy to follow, and there are plenty of very detailed pictures to help understand (for you visual learners, like me!).This book is definitely accessible to most anyone, and covers all the practicality of finding and using herbs like a pro. If you’re new, this is a really engaging experience! At least it was for me. I feel like I can now pretty easily find the herbs needed to make a specific recipe, for a specific cause – for example, if I have a headache, I can literally make a natural tea to cure it! That’s so awesome. What the heck. The book has a lot of step-by-step guides with the clear instructions… almost like a cookbook. Except for herbs! All in all, if you’re looking for a basic understanding of herbalism, the fundamentals of the craft, this is the book for you.Taking into account all the above, plus the detailed charts, tons of recipes, and natural approach- I wouldn’t have chosen anything else! Thanks so much.-Greg

Beautifully written with great content – Loved it!
The author uses beautiful imagery throughout the book, which I found pretty enjoyable, and draws you into the content to create an educational experience for beginners, not just an academic book about herbal remedies. The book begins with a brief history of herbalism and its origins. It then discusses the benefits of using herbs, ways to utilize them, how to source quality herbs, how to source quality herbs from companies, and the ethics of herb foraging on your own.You will learn how vital herbs are in supporting the body and the body’s natural ability to heal when herbs are incorporated. I found the chapter on how to start your journey as a beginner herbalist empowering, teaching you the tools of the craft and moving into growing, preparation, utilization, and storing with a few recipes provided. The 20 essential plants provided are described in depth, including many uses, from health remedies to culinary inclusions and precautions, but you get 100 herbs and their uses. There are two helpful charts (one is quite extensive) with a list of essential herbs, what each does, and how to apply them to your needs or ailments. The final chapters culminate with the preparation of herbs with more great recipes and their application for everything from skincare, sleep aids, digestive support, and even how to build your home herbal first aid kit. I’m excited to delve deeper into the world of herbs!

I’m brand new to creating herbal tonics and am relieved to finally have a simple manual. The first aid section is great – super step-by-step so newbies like me can master it. Also love that each recipe isn’t 30+ steps like they often are – the activated charcoal one worked out beautifully and I showed our boys so they’re excited about it too!
