Take Your Skin to the Next Level with This Guide to Korean Skin Care
“This book feels like talking with a trusted friend, one so generous with practical advice and wisdom. I wish our Dermatology textbooks had chapters like these!” —Dr. Erin Tababa-Santos, creator of The Nerdy Derma
#1 New Release in Massage and Skin Ailments
Have you always longed for that fresh, glowing, no-makeup look? With this step-by-step guide to Korean skincare routines, anyone can attain healthy skin. But Skincare for Your Soul takes it one step further―it guides you to a place where skincare is also self-care.
The Korean skin care journey. As much as we’d like, glowing, clear skin doesn’t happen overnight. But there is beauty in the process―not just the results. Author Jude Chao links skincare to self-care culture, giving readers a practical guide to developing an ideal skincare routine and using it to help manage stress, anxiety, and depression. The Korean skincare routine invites us to look at our skincare not only as a way to reduce lines and wrinkles or clear up breakouts, but as a tool for developing our self-care habits.
Steady improvement is the goal. Photoshopped perfection is neither realistic nor a healthy goal. What matters is caring for our mental health and building our self-esteem by intentionally taking time each day to give our skin some love. But it starts with changing how we view skincare and developing a routine that fits our personal needs and goals, and Chao helps you do that.

The best skincare reference out there
I have turned to Jude Chao for skincare advice from both her blog and instagram for years, so I was very excited to read her book. It is so, so good. Her voice contains the gentle encouragement of a sister or best friend. She completely demystifies the sometimes intimidating world of skincare (particularly Korean skincare), and provides the clarity you never quite get from furious google research. I also love how she divorces skincare from beauty media & marketing and presents it not just as a ritual of self-care, but as a kind of magic that radiates outward and affects your life, health, environment, etc. Iâm so glad to have Judeâs wisdom contained in this adorable little book-Iâve been keeping it on my bathroom counter as inspiration and reference. If Iâm tempted to rush through my routine it reminds me to slow down and take pleasure in it. If youâre interested in skincare but donât like the conflicting, confusing advice out there, this will simplify it all and make you feel confident.

A must read for skincare beginners and skincare enthusiasts alike!
I have never encountered such a comforting and easy to read skincare book before! Not only is this just about the most beautiful book Iâve ever seen (with the most adorable illustrations), Jude Chaoâs knowledge of skincare and gentle guidance is astounding. I literally could not stop reading this book (ripped through it in about three hours) and I was actually taking notes as I was going along. Jude makes the scary process of defining/designing your skincare routine feel not only attainable but enjoyable! After reading this book I felt so inspired to redefine my skincare routine and I cannot wait to share Judeâs advice with all of my friends. Absolutely WONDERFUL book!!

A must read!!!
This book is for beginners and advanced skincare enthusiasts. Ms. Chao writes with more knowledge and personal experience then the majority of bloggers today. She brings a fresh straightforward and honest approach making the book a finish it until your done. It was insightful and makes it easy for you to learn about Korean Skincare. In a time when self care is self love, this book is a helpful map to use on K-Skincare and self care wellness. I recommend this to everyone!

You think you donât need a book about skincare, but you do.
I found Jude Chen through her Instagram page as I was becoming increasingly regularly in my skincare routine and I wanted to know more about the efficacy of ingredients. I love her sense of humor online, which comes through in the book, but she also got me thinking about how healing the routines of skincare are for self care, relaxation, soulcare, etc. She brought me from, âOh god, I have to go wash tonight,â to âyay! I have a new snail mucin mask to use tonight!â Plus, the book is compact and cute!

Great concise book of skincare
This isnât a long read (I finished my first read through in a few hours) but as someone who appreciates a concise breakdown of K-Beauty products and so,e key ingredients, I really do think this is a great read. Itâs concise, with a touch of empathy from the author as she describes how skincare gave her purpose while dealing with mental health issues. As someone who initially got into K-Beauty last year as part of COVID related anxiety and general stress, I appreciated her thoughts and insight. Iâd highly recommend this.

Good info but also salve to the soul
Through assorted avenues, I’d become relatively educated about skincare, in general. Recent interest into K- beauty, particularly snail mucin, took me down the rabbit hole that led to this book. So glad it did! What a lovely, comprehensive overview of the skincare world, with concise yet informative sections on the complexities of a multi-step regimen of cleansing, moisturizing, actives, and spfs. It validated several things I knew and used, made me rethink other aspects of my skincare choices, and opened some new possibilities for refinement.Aside from being informative and conversational, there were many times the author shared her perspectives on skincare as self care and maintaining mental health. The validation and “she GETS me!” moments were salve to my soul. It was so heartening to read a beauty writer who speaks from a place of focusing on beauty not for vanity’s sake but because feeling good about myself simply makes me feel good. It’s a distinction I’ve never seen another author so authentically and sincerely make.
