Hereâs an in-depth review for anyone debating the high price!
Donât let the subscription deter you, this alarm clock is completely usable without it. The monthly subscription is mainly for more sounds and bedtime stories, plus 2 added steps to your sleep/wake routine which are âUnwindâ and âMorning Momentâ. Iâd suggest setting up some routines while on the free version, to get the feel of it first; then get the free trial and immediately cancel it, so you donât get charged but can try it out for a month. (Keep the alarms when you cancel!) If you realize that you like the subscription version more than the free: the monthly price is $5 totaling to $60 a year, and the yearly subscription is $50.The sunrise feature is super customizable, you can have the dim lamp go very bright within 5 minutes or up to an hour. Thereâs 12 sunrises and 13 alarm sounds to choose from without a subscription. Thereâs also 28 different sleep sounds for free!Hatch claims this alarm is science-backed in lulling you to sleep but also waking you up gradually and peacefully. Listening to brown noise definitely helps me stay asleep for most of the night; whereas before, Iâd wake up numerous times every single night. Also I can for sure say that after having this clock for a few months, not once have I woken up to a jarringly loud alarm and jumped out of bed after realizing I snoozed all of my alarms, like I did with iPhone alarms.The biggest issue is that it relies on a constant WiFi/power connection. If a cell tower nearby goes down or thereâs no power, youâre stuck without an alarm clock.I got the Putty color option, itâs a lighter tan with a hint of pink. The video I included shows the Brown Noise sleep sound and the light color Evening Sun. There are instructions that come with the clock that tell you where to touch for adjusting the volume and light, how the two Rest/Rise buttons at the top work, and how to set up the clock within the app. It took about 10 minutes for my clock to connect and register/update, so donât be worried if it takes awhile. Upon opening this alarm clock, Iâd recommend placing the box upright and pulling the top of the box off, so the clock stays in the bottom of the box and doesnât fall out.Not only is this an aesthetic clock, but itâs also a sound machine, an alarm, and a curated sunrise. The ability to have a different alarm schedule is a huge bonus as well, especially if you have a differing morning routine depending on the day. Honestly, the price could definitely be lower, but I believe itâs just about worth it over other options.

Whilst some features are locked behind a subscription (disappointing when the initial outlay is pricey), thereâs enough functionality to be good without the subscription. Thereâs a good range of different sunrises & sunsets to choose from, the light can be used on its own as a reading light or mood lighting. The sound quality is good enough for the standard alarms. Easy to use via the app. Waking up to a light room in the dark winter days really makes a difference to how I feel.

Had issues in the setup as the model I got was owned by someone else prior to I, I had thought I bought new so that was disappointing… Hatch support got back quite quickly and got it sorted, but annoying for the seller to sell refurbished when it is advised against doing that by the company.
