Strange Packaging
I use an OTC sleep aid most nights about a 1/2 hour before I go to bed and feel like I get a better nightâs sleep. Iâm really not sure about the value for the money. I bought these with some extra FSA funds, so I didnât really compute the cost per pill. But what was strange is that I thought that the product was going to come in a bottle and not in safety seal packaging. Whatâs strange too is that I think that the dosage is 2 pill, but the way the product was listed I thought I was getting 72 doses per package. Not 36, so thatâs something to keep in mind. I only took one last night, because thatâs what I thought the dosage was supposed to be and woke up a little earlier than usual. Didnât realize until I read the package this morning I was supposed to take 2 pills.

Weâve tried everything under the stars or it seems like it to get a good nights sleep. This is the only product that seems to work. We both get a good night sleep and waking up feeling refreshed. Old school still comes thru.

Both husband and I have been taking this product for many years. Benign, and a helpful way to have good sleep. Other sleep aids would make us drowsy the next day. Sominex does not.

Works well for flying
I’ve used this product on flights for the past year. Basically I take one to 1.5 (I’m a large man) an hour before boarding (making sure there are no delays) and I am usually asleep before we take off and don’t wake up until the wheels hit the runway at my destination. If the flight is less than an hour I don’t take any. I don’t use them any other time except for flying twice a week. They seem to consistently work for me. Previously I took Ambien and had some druggy side effects before boarding and sometimes after landing including hallucinations, time loss, etc. So this has been an excellent safer feeling alternative for me.

Same as Benadryl, but costs more
The only active ingredient in Sominex is diphenhydramine HCL (Brand name is Benadryl). I should have read this prior to purchasing it. It would be much more cost effective to purchase generic dipphenhydramine HCL, since this is the same thing. You can buy a bottle of 1000 diphenhydramine HCL 25 mg on Amazon for $20.00.
