Improves stability
I’ve had bone stability problems in my wrist specifically when using a mouse, and was issued one of these from a physical therapist. The problem never went away, but this takes the pain away when I’m on the computer. Bought this to replace the old brace when it got too dirty. Works great!

Great stability for carpal tunnel, but it does have extremely strong Velcro!
My PT gave this to me for carpal tunnel issues. It is a unique design different from anything else I’ve seen. It stays in place pretty well if I tighten it a little more at the wrist, so it can’t slide up the arm. Unlike everything else, this doesn’t go around the thumb, which is great because wrist braces always do and hurt around the bottom of the thumb eventually. It is stiff enough to support my wrist well for typing & general activities; there are soft pieces of rubber on the underside of the wrist to help stop the wrist from bending down, and in general it stops it from going up, so the wrist is truly in a neutral position. I can also wear it more, since my fingers are free from fabric and the brace itself doesn’t get nearly as dirty as something else which goes further down the hand & thumb – cleaning, cooking etc are easier. That being said, however, this thing is HARD to get off. It is very tight and the Velcro is VERY sticky! It’s a good thing I can leave it on & do more without taking it off & on like my other braces; I sometimes do it with my teeth. That probably helps it work, since it stops it from sliding up, but it should be taken into consideration by someone without a lot of arm/hand strength, arthritis, etc.

My spouse injured his wrist and has been taping it for a month and I finally got him to try this brace. Once he tried it he has been using it regularly-so I know it is easier and cleaner than taping-and comfortable. The only thing he did not like was that the instructions were written more for a physical therapist and not the average joe.

These bands were a bilateral fix. At first the support was superb, however, I began to have an irritation on my skin on the right wrist area about 4 sq. in., in a rounded rectangular shape, down from my little finger. At first I thought it was one part of inside band causing it, but there seemed no difference between the right and left bands. The irritation has lingered for a few months, feeling in the range from almost abrasive to sometimes shooting pains. No topicals, lotions, natural salves (aloe vera) etc. would arrest it. I know it works, because the left is doing its job. I even put the left band on the right wrist, in time the irritation comes back. I am contacting the manufacturers to address this problem of their product that has staived off surgery! I believe in its design.
