It looks like AOC has another win under its belt, as its AGON line has been named the world’s No.1 gaming monitor brand for the sixth consecutive year.
Yes, according to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Gaming Tracker based on outgoing stock numbers from the Q4 2024 report, AOC/ AGON has secured the number 1 spot in the global gaming brand rankings every year since 2019, for monitors 100hz and above.
Being at the number one spot for gaming monitor shipments is no small feat though. In fact, in Q2 2024, out of the total monitor shipments a whopping 20% were gaming displays.
Head of the Monitors Business Unit at AOC, Kevin Wu, said that, “Being recognised once again at the top reaffirms our commitment to gamers everywhere,” following on to say, “We will continue to evolve alongside the gaming community, creating hardware and gaming experiences that meet the ambitions of today’s most demanding players.”
We love the enthusiasm, but with other brands no doubt just as ambitious, what what can we expect AOC to bring to the table to retain the top spot?
What could 2025 look like for AOC?
Unsurprisingly, we think we’ll be seeing some big things from AOC as we head further into 2025. According to the press release, there’s a few obvious areas of evolution, and one that’s a welcome surprise.
Looking ahead, AGON by AOC is set to further advance display technology across all segments. The brand’s 2025 roadmap emphasises:
• Expanding the accessibility of 240 Hz and above displays across all product tiers
• Further development of OLED technology, building on the success of current QD-OLED models
• Integration of gaming-inspired features into professional displays
• Continued focus on value-oriented high-performance gaming monitorsAOC – via. press release
An emphasis on 240hz refresh rates across all product tiers is a very smart move, and gives those on all ends of the budget spectrum access to higher fps gaming, ideal for competitive play.
With OLED, we’ve seen some substantial evolutions over the years, especially with QD-OLED that’s largely solved for some of the dimmer OLED monitors from a few years back. If AOC are looking to refine this even further, it’s an exciting time for gaming.
Gaming-inspired features into professional displays is an interesting one, potentially creating incredibly versatile monitors for both work and play. These could be a huge hit, but pricing will certainly of be of interest here.
And of course, there’s a continued focus on value-orientated gaming monitors, which is something AOC has been incredibly good at. I for one bought one of its budget-friendly 4K monitors years ago, and it still stands up nicely today.
