Panasonic’s Major firmware update is coming to the LUMIX S1RII, S1II, and S1IIE cameras. The Major update will become available for download on June 24, 2025. Panasonic Japan’s social media handles initially posted a teaser for the upcoming major update.
Key Features of the Firmware Update
This is not the first time. One month ago, in May 2025, Lumix teased the updates, so let’s have a look at the set of updates coming for the LUMIX S1R II camera, while specific details for the S1II and S1IIE remain partially undisclosed.
- 8.1K/7.2K video recording across the entire sensor range
- Direct backup of data recorded on SD cards/CFexpress cards to SSD
- Supports Bluetooth timecode synchronization
- HLG View Assist parameters can be changed
- Multi-frame marker display
- The color of the AF frame can be changed
- Supports the update function of the smartphone app “LUMIX Flow”
- Supports DJI wireless control
This update shows the commitment of Lumix to its consumers. Just like Nikon, they are also providing major updates for free for professional camera users. Other camera makers, specifically Canon and Nikon, should learn from this—that companies are putting in so much effort to keep already announced cameras updated without putting any pressure on the pockets of photographers or cinematographers.
The firmware updates will be available for free download
