Wedding photography is a high-stakes genre. Someone is trusting you with documenting their most important day, and you, as a photographer, have to get the best shots by hook or crook. This is why you need a reliable full-frame camera, with a high-speed autofocus, a great lens collection, and a reliable battery. So, here are a few options that you can use as your main camera for challenging wedding photography assignments. These devices will never let you down.
Canon EOS R5 II

Succeeding a very popular camera, the R5 II is a full-frame device that offers a 45MP stacked sensor, 30 fps continuous still shooting, and a dual-pixel autofocus system with 1,053 autofocus points. It is a hybrid camera, which means you can record 8K/60p RAW, 4K/60p SRAW files. Some other features include ISO between 50-102,400, 8.5-stops of image stabilisation, and 5.76m-dot resolution of EVF with 120fps of refresh rate. We liked the image quality, weather sealing, and autofocus. Speaking about it, we said, “During my testing, I found the combination to be solid, quickly locking focus and finding my intended subject. Even in the rather terrible lighting of the event space, the Canon R5 II not only managed to acquire focus easily, but it was also able to hold focus even with a moving subject at a distance.”
Nikon z9

The Nikon Z9 is one of the best cameras for various reasons. It features a full-frame 45MP sensor, an EXPEED 7 image processor, and an ISO range of 32-102400. The camera records 10-bit 8K/30p videos, has 493 phase-detection AF points with low-light focusing to -8.5EV, and 5-axis image stabilisation. In addition, you get a 3.7m-dot EVF and a 2.1m-dot rear touchscreen LCD. In our review of the device, we said it has the best autofocus, many customisation options, fast and quick shooting, 3D tracking, in-camera cropping features, and no camera shake issues. Until the Z9 II is launched this is the best option from the company.
Sony a9 III
The Sony a9 III is the best camera for off-camera flash. The device features a 24MP full-frame stacked sensor, global shutter at up to 120 fps, no limit on flash sync speed, pre-capture for 1 second, and low light autofocus down to -5 EV at f1.8. Some of its pros include image stabilization, weather resistance, autofocus, and high ISO images. In our review, we said, “This is a pretty fascinating camera. It has applications for wildlife photography, sports photography, photo journalism, and weddings. That’s all dealing with capturing moments. But for more artistic photographers, the fast flash sync option opens up possibilities that haven’t been available in photography before.”
Panasonic S1r II

The Panasonic S1R II features a 44MP full frame sensor, real-time LUT, and AFC to 40fps with blackout free. It has 779 autofocus points and 8 stops of image stabilisation. There is AI detection for scene recognition, a 5760k OLED viewfinder, multiple exposure modes, and shutter limit mode. Some of its pros include the ergonomics, weather sealing, in-camera creative modes, and better scene detection. As we said in our review: “the Panasonic LUMIX S1R II is seriously one of my favorite cameras of the year. It puts photographers and still photography front and center. On top of that, it gives you lots of controls that make the shooting experience pretty simple fot you overall.”
