Great smart plug to go with echo!
So Iâm kind of new to the amazon device family. We just got our echo a few months ago. Iâve been a prime member for over 10 years so Iâm familiar with how amazon has changed life as we knew it (for me anyway). I saw the amazon smart plug when I was searching for any brand smart plug that had Alexa control with it. Itâs been in my cart saved for later for at least a month! I finally decided to just pre order it so that I could review it and hopefully help other people that are like me and have fallen way behind in the tech field. For reference Iâm an almost 34 year old mom of 2. This means that my 8 year old stole my iPad, iMac, and I havenât had a computer of my own in about 4 years! So I do everything from my iPhone. Iâve had some weird issues with our echo and my Alexa app that it will just randomly pause a song so Iâm not sure what that is about.
ANYWAY! I received my new amazon smart plug the day it was released (so glad itâs not like a new iPhone or PlayStation where people camp out ahead of time or do people still do this??). It was easier than I expected but harder than was described in the listing because my Alexa didnât just recognize it.
Setup:
Since my Alexa didnât recognize it on its own, I had to unplug the smart plug and quickly scan the code on the back of the plug, then plug it back in fast so that when it scanned for it it would see it plugged in. After that it was very simple. I was able to plug in my baby monitor and then tell Alexa to âturn off plug oneâ and it turned off! It is so cool!
Future:
I think homes will end up being built with these right into the electrical system. Maybe they already are.
Comparing:
With so many different brands offering smart plugs with Alexa integration I canât see myself buying any more than 1 for $25. Too many are 2 for $20. While itâs nice to have the amazon support backing this up, I just canât afford to fill my home with them at such a high cost comparative to other brands that do the same exact thing.
Overall:
If you can afford to fill your plugs with these then do! This smart plug is easy and awesome! But if youâre on a tight budget like I am, I would try a different brand first and see if those will work just as well.

Works great.
I have my living room lamps plugged into this. Setup was automatic and easy, and it always works with voice commands, even if I am talking over the TV. I wish I could think of more things I need to have voice control over.

finally a smart plug that works with fire tablets
I am amazed how well this switches work!!! I bought more of this switches because I had been using them for the last 6 months, and they are the only ones that have not lost connectivity and work every time I ask alexa to turn off my lights. I have two fire tv tablets that I use to control all my lights in my house with these amazon switches, and they work flawlessly!!! I have had cheaper ones in the past, but they lose connection with my tablets all the time. This switches are good quality for the money. If you have alexa devices that you can use your voice with to control your lights, this is the only switch that worked for my fire tablets. They are worth it!!!

Works ok, But something in the app does not
This smart plug works great, MANUALLY. You can tell Alexa to turn on and off (or push the Icon in the app).
BUT…….If you tell Alexa to turn the plug on and then turn the plug off in 4 hours (or at 10 PM or whatever) It FAILS to turn the plug off 100% of the time. You must check the status of the plug and turn off manually. Otherwise, it just stays on
Very disappointing but that appears to be an App issue rather than the plug.

Convenient & Easy to Use!
This smart plug makes life so much easier! I use it to turn lamps and our Christmas tree on and off automatically with Alexa, and it works flawlessly. Setup was super simple, and I love being able to control everything with just my voice or the app. A great addition to any smart home!

Lifesaver
I have only been using this for less than a week but it’s already been a lifesaver. I am a massage therapist and I have a hot towel cabi in my office. I am always paranoid that I left it on even though I double & triple check before I leave, and have even drove back to my office a few times to make sure. I decided I needed one of these at least for the peace of mind and I am so glad I did. It was super easy to set up, took a few minutes if that. I don’t really use alexa but I have the echo glow in my office so I was already familiar with the app. Now I can turn on both devices with one click or voice command. It’s makes thing really simple & convenient. Of course there is also the bonus of being able to turn the warmer on in advance so the warmer on & ready when I get to the office. This is extremely convenient for me, especially if I am running late, and another reason why I wanted one of these. I hope I don’t have the issues I’ve read in some of the other comments but so far it’s been working seamlessly.
