Blackmagic Design has released a new update for its line of monitors/recorders: Blackmagic Video Assist 3.20. The models that benefit from this update are the Blackmagic Video Assist 5” 12G HDR and the Blackmagic Video Assist 7” 12G HDR. Let’s take a look at the new improvements!
The latest batch of Panasonic cameras is now supported by Blackmagic Video Assist so that BRAW can be recorded externally via HDMI from the LUMIX S1II and LUMIX S1IIE. Both cameras were announced earlier this year (see our S1II review here and lab test here), so this update by Blackmagic Design is, of course, a welcome thing. According to Blackmagic Design, this update also brings general performance and stability improvements (not specifying what those actually are).
The utility also installs Blackmagic RAW Player, Blackmagic RAW Speed Test, Blackmagic RAW SDK, and Blackmagic RAW plugins. The 3.20 update requires macOS 14.1 Sonoma, or macOS 15.0 Sequoia for Apple users, and Microsoft Windows 11 with a suitable USB 2.0 port for Windows users.
Speaking of which, both the LUMIX S1II and S1IIE are now reduced in price ($159.90 and $124.90, respectively), celebrating the upcoming BILD event taking place on June 17- 18th at the Javits Center in New York City (entrance is free).
Price and availability
Blackmagic Video Assist 3.20 update is now available for download at no cost from Blackmagic Design’s support website.
