One thing that is not mentioned is if the Sony Playmemories apps are on the cameras https://www.playmemoriescameraapps.com/portal/ , or even if he ever had an account – if he ever had an account who ever bought the cameras and gear have to till August to download to the camera after that they will be gone. The on camera apps link was in the online Sony camera support page A7SM1 https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/e-mount-body-ilce-7-series/ilce-7s/downloads and still has a link to Sony Playmemories apps but not the same as on camera apps.
You may ask what’s the big? If you are selling a Sony A7, R, S Mod 1 or 2 it is not a complete camera if without any of them. I started with an A7SM1 in September 2014 with just a few lenses at the time but it was my main camera till 2017 when I bought the A7RM2, still have both as well as a A7SM2 and yes have all the apps both pay and free.
I went from a Canon T2i when Canon no longer had a developing/editing program with updates and also had my old Canon Film FD lenses that thanks to Sony giving camera info to adapter makers for the old FD and also other camera makers lenses, both the hook and line that made me choose to go Sony. Few know is that it was still the age of printed magazines and Camera info books like those of Brian Smith – Sony A7 and A7R from Snapshots to Great Shots and Sony A7 Series that I read over and over at the time and refer back to many times -THANK YOU by the way. These books also should be part of the bundle for there is info showing how to do things no one thinks about with the new mirrorless cameras that mirrored cameras I think even to this day can do. A sad thing is there are no books on the A7SM1 and M2 the M2 used my the many YouTube posters recording their trips at night, the fact that they had high ISO’s was key but video and stills were not the same a still was very bright but a video of the stars and landscape were not very bright BUT let you see what the human eye can not.
Cameras are forever as well as the lenses and the term “CHEAP” is misused it should be Less $’s today or light on you wallet. Yes old and on the used market BUT still great if you just try using with the knowledge of a few books that real experts have tried and experimented and got the results. Something you learn after the beginning of your first A7 model and the few books of tried and proven info is to always get a book or two from photographers who like to see what a new camera has to offer and share the info most time with 600+ pages today in PDF and easy somewhat to read on a pad or phone if you need some info before a shoot.
Just for info not a Pro but a Hobbyist and the Apps that I put I my A7S let me play and learn things that would take external gear and most all apps processed in camera and output to a SD card in raw or jpeg or both like the “Digital Filter” came with many presets but allowed you to do your own sky settings and foreground settings both separate but combined in camera then a output I used to get a Milky Way over a lit town, city of area with ground light sky glow. All the apps were training and great results when you needed them.
I have learned that you can transfer them to a hard drive incase you want to or have to reset the camera, which I have done just in case. With these early Sony cameras with so many things to learn from and STILL being sold NEW and the owner not knowing about somethings that could help learn more about photography. The shame is used camera dealers reset these cameras and the apps are gone also.
