DELTARUNE’s first chapter launched in 2018, which was followed by the second in 2021. Fans who’ve been waiting patiently for the game’s next installments are getting a double dose of goodness come June 5th, 2025, as chapters 3 and 4 will be available on both Switch and Switch 2.
Are you planning on jumping in on DELTARUNE for the first time with the arrival of Switch 2? Are you in need of a refresher on mechanics and more since it’s been 3+ years since DELTARUNE’s second chapter released? Well, there’s no need to worry, as the series’ creator has put together the perfect primer.
DELTARUNE creator Toby Fox has just released a “Gameplay Reminder Cheat Sheet,” which explains and recounts numerous aspects of the adventure. You can find sections that detail multiple elements of battle, tips for text boxes, and even a thorough explanation of how save data works.
If you’ve played DELTARUNE’s earlier chapters, you already know that your save data gets carried over from one chapter into the next. What do you do if you don’t have save data to bring with you? For example, let’s say you started playing DELTARUNE on PC but you want to enjoy the latest chapters on Switch 2. If you fall into that camp, there’s a very easily solution for you.
DELTARUNE will include a “Completion State” option that’ll set you up for the chapter you want to start with. Here’s what Completion State data will incorporate:
- A number of characters will be RECRUITed and the game will assume you have never been unnecessarily violent. (However, not all characters will be recruited, so some activities may not be unlocked.)
- You will begin with no usable Dark World items or Dark Dollars.
- The characters’ default equipment will be a mix of the equipment found in the previous two Chapters.
It may not be a perfect solution, but it’s much better than having to replay the earlier chapters just to get to the new content. To read more on Completion State content and the other aspects of this primer, check out the feature here.
