Persona 5 The Phantom X‘s potential presence or absence of a soft pity has been a popular topic of discussion in the community ever since the Global version went live.
The global version has a few notable differences from the regional servers. Many players have speculated that there might be soft pity in the Global, too. However, there may be no good news if you’re struggling with your banner pulls.
Is there soft pity in Persona 5 The Phantom X Global?
Before answering the question, it’s important to understand what soft pity is. A pity in a gacha refers to a milestone that guarantees the game will reward you with a valuable character after opening the banner a specific number of times. This ensures that your bad luck with banner pulls doesn’t completely hamstring you. This also ensures that you’re at least guaranteed the character you’re pulling for after spending your resources (the amount required to hit the pity).
A soft pity is like an unofficial milestone that a lot of gacha games implement to make banners slightly more rewarding. A soft pity is easier to trigger than a hard pity, as the former is always going to take a lesser number of pulls to reach. However, players have no known way of knowing if their favorite gacha has a soft pity.
As of this writing, there’s absolutely no evidence to suggest that there is soft pity for the global version of the game. I have looked into what the community feels, and so far, there’s no concrete proof about a soft pity existing.
I have managed to test using a friend’s account (who is a paid player), and the only pity I hit was at the 80-pull mark. Had there been a soft pity, the odds of pulling a highlight character should have been higher. Of course, I still might have been unlucky (since it’s a soft pity), but it’s unlikely that the global has anything but a hard pity.
Does Persona 5 The Phantom X Global has hard pity?
The global version has hard pity on both the character and weapons banner. The pity rate is slightly different based on whether you’re going for weapons or characters. Character banners have their hard pity set at 80 pulls, which guarantees a 5-star character from the banner.
Weapon banners have their pity set at 70, so slightly less, at least. There’s an event live on the Global version, which allows you to select two additional 5-star weapons. If you manage to get a 5-star weapon, there’s a 50% chance for one of your selections to pop with it. SEGA has followed the typical formula when it comes to the hard Pity.
