GHOST TRAVELER: Adventures in Edo “Shurei’s Story” trailer

SUCCESS Corporation previously announced the mystery visual novel “GHOST TRAVELER: Adventures in Edo” for Switch, and it’s set to launch Oct. 16th, 2025 with English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese language support. A new promo video in their “Portraits Before the Prologue” series has been shared, and you can give it a watch above.

Pulled back through time, witness the tears of women that shape their fate. This short story video presents a reflective tale of Shurei, a central character in GHOST TRAVELER: Adventures in Edo, set just before the beginning of the game’s prologue.

In GHOST TRAVELER: Adventures in Edo, a boy is transported back in time to Edo period Japan and becomes caught up in a series of bizarre murders. Will he be able to solve the mysteries surrounding the murders in the Yoshiwara red light district and return to the present day?

The protagonist (the player) is a 17-year-old boy named Kotaro, who lives in modern-day Japan. One day, he is caught up in a supernatural phenomenon in Shibuya and loses consciousness. When he wakes up, he finds himself in a world that looks like something out of a Japanese period drama.

Kotaro is told by “God” that he is in the Yoshiwara red light district in Edo, the capital of 19th-century Japan, that his body is dead and he now exists only as a soul, and that he has been transported back in time to the Edo period. The reasons for his arrival in this era and how he can move on to the afterlife are unclear, so Kotaro begins wandering the streets of Yoshiwara in search of clues to solve the “mystery.”

Eventually, he stumbles upon the murder of a courtesan and takes on the role of a “detective” to solve the case. However, he is soon confronted with a series of bizarre murders…
