Laowa 10mm T2.9 Zero-D VV Cine Lens Now Available in PL Mount

Laowa has expanded its popular 10mm T2.9 Zero-D VV Cine lens lineup with the addition of a PL mount, broadening compatibility with professional cinema cameras while maintaining its status as the world’s widest rectilinear full-frame cine lens.

Known for pushing the boundaries of ultra-wide cinematography, Venus Optics – the company behind the Laowa brand – has a 10mm T2.9 Zero-D VV Cine lens that offers a sweeping 130.3° diagonal angle of view while maintaining zero-distortion imaging across the frame. The lens covers an image circle of 46.31mm, ensuring full compatibility with Vista Vision sensors and high-end cinema cameras like the ARRI ALEXA LF, ALEXA 35, and RED RAPTOR 8K VV, while the new PL mount now allows direct integration into professional cinema workflows.

Ultra-wide coverage without distortion

Despite its ultra-wide 10mm focal length, the lens maintains a fast T2.9 aperture and offers a close focusing distance of just 12cm, enabling impactful foreground detail and cinematic close-ups with pleasing background separation. Weighing around 640g (1.41 lbs) and measuring 84mm in front diameter, the lens remains compact and lightweight enough for gimbals, drones, and handheld rigs, making it a practical tool for fast-paced productions.

The optical design includes 15 elements in 9 groups with 14 aperture blades, minimizing chromatic aberration and color fringing while delivering high contrast and sharpness across the frame. Laowa’s Zero-Distortion technology ensures that straight lines remain straight, even at the edges, which is particularly valuable for architectural and interior cinematography.

Cine-oriented build and workflow flexibility

The lens features a 113° focus throw, a 63° aperture throw, and industry-standard 0.8M mod gearing for compatibility with follow focus systems and motors. A 77mm front filter thread allows easy use of ND, polarizer, or UV filters for flexible on-set workflows.
