The bad news: if, like me, you’ve encountered your Dyson device’s animation saying that the filter part is red, as in probably overdue for a replacement, and already replaced the main filters with some knock-off filter, and, when that didn’t do the trick, tried to replace this filter inside of them, too, because why not – it turns out that isn’t what the device is beckoning about. Or, if it is, this filter also doesn’t satisfy whatever sensor is looking for a replaced filter in the machine.Still, if, like me, you have owned your humidifier-purifier for a few years already and never changed this filter, I figure it’s probably a good idea, once in a while, between its usual regular citric acid washes. Prior to changing, mine gave off slight acidic smells, presumably from the many soaks it’s had in its life time, and after, I again smelled fresh air, as expected. So: this part probably is fair game not replacing with only original parts. Maybe the main filters are a better bet going for the brand’s own parts, if they’re perhaps slapped with some kind of DRM or similar.
