Is perfect for any first time bread makers out there!
Is so nice to have a kit that comes with everything you need, including the recipe! I will say that for someone who never made bread before the instructions were not very detailed. However I still loved the process and canât wait to make more bread!!!

works but not perfect
I recently began making my own bread and needed a proofing basket for my artisan loafs. This basket did help my dough proof better than in a bowl, but it was not completely splinter free and some of those splinters got stuck to my dough. When I first inspected the basket I didn’t see any splinters on the inside of the basket, but I did see a few loose strands here and there on the outside. I took my chances and it was a mistake. The basket comes with a snapper, a burlap bag and a cover to help better proof your bread. It helped shape and proof my dough, I just wish it didn’t have any splinters so I could use it properly.

So good!!
I love this bread basket. Itâs so easy to use and gives my bread great shape. I also tried out the recipe that comes with the basket and itâs the best bread Iâve made! Iâll definitely be recommending this to everyone I know!

Nice product but vague instructions
First, the basket is well made, the liner is well sewn and should hold up to washing. The plastic scraper seems sturdy. But, no measurements are given in the description and the basket seems small. The recipes in the instructions are for 2 loaves of bread, but only one proofing basket. The baking and use instructions are vague. You CAN’T bake in this basket. You will start a fire in your oven. I deducted stars for the vague instructions.

Nice inclusive kit
I am brand new to bread making and I got this to help get me started; however, as others have stated, thereâs relatively no instructions and I have so many questions. Hereâs what I learned through some quick research. The proofing basket is referred to as a banneton.1. The basket will allow your bread to rise up and not out.2. The basket should NEVER go in the oven!3. The basket may be used with or without the lining but in either case, they need to be floured. Using a flour that wonât incorporate into your bread. You can use a little water or oil but little is key. If the basket is used directly, it will become more non-stick with age because flour builds up and âseasonsâ it.4. Shape the bread to fit in your basket.5. The seam of the bread can be on the top or bottom. Placing the seam side up is preferred if you want to score the top of your bread.6. Cover your bread to keep it from drying out.7. Release the dough for baking by upturning the basket making sure to not knock the air out of it.Thatâs the highlight reel! Wishing all of us new bread bakers good luck!!

Basket for proofing a perfect artisan loaf of bread !
I’m a bread maker & have a stone cloche, baking stone, bread machine but what I didn’t have was a bread proofing basket that would give me one of those beautiful, circular marked round artisan loaves. Now I have one & I’m very pleased with it. These are hand made & as you can see from the pictures, are made well. I took a close up of the bottom outside & the inside for you to see they are tight rings & seem to be made well. The basket liner is stitched well & fits the basket perfectly. Since I’m prone to ‘overkill’, no doubt I’ll reinforce everything on my sewing machine before using. This way, I know they’ll last a good, long time. I’ve found that with many things, a little precaution when new gives a good product a long, long life & this proofing basket will be well used this winter.Something I didn’t expect to see come with it is the drawstring bag everything fits in. It’s perfect for keeping everything clean. I have it stored in my cupboard & ready to go when the mood strikes me. Including a small, plastic dough divider was also a nice touch. So many name brand proofing baskets don’t include these things and can be costly or poorly made. It comes with a brochure that has a sourdough starter bread recipe as well as a regular bread recipe but I have my favorites I’ve collected over the years & will probably use one of those. I’m pleased with this item & accessories and I’m sure they will give me the years of baking I want them for.

Poor Quality
I have never had any experience with a proofing basket, so as soon as this arrived, I inspected it. I noticed numerous wooden slivers poking out of the inside of the bowl. Luckily, there is a linen cover for optional use. It worked pretty well for my optimistic novice attempt. I washed the cover afterwards though, and it shrunk where I couldn’t use it. Now I feel the bowl is useless, unless I find a way to shed the slivers from the inside without compromising the integrity of the bowl or causing more.

Nice proofing basket, really bad instructions
I made a sourdough starter last year and I’ve wanted a proofing basket for a while, so I was delighted to get this from HomeGenics. The basket is very nice, but when I read the instructions, my head almost blew off. DO NOT PUT THE BASKET IN THE OVEN! When the dough is ready to bake, take it out of the basket and put it on a baking tray or pizza stone. I dinged HomeGenics one star because I just know someone is going to follow the instruction booklet to the letter and put the proofing basket in the oven with the dough. Don’t think the bread loaf is going to be big enough to feed the fire department.
