One of my Senior horses has a chronic hot spot and this is the only ointment I’ll use on her. It’s ingredients are good for her wound and since the consistency of Silver Honey is more like a paste, so it stays on, even during hot Summer months. Yes, it’s pricey but worth it.

My 5 year old Great Dane developed a red, pussy, oozing hot spot on her back hock that she could not stop licking. My resident horse person said to try this and get whichever was cheaper this or the equine version. This stuff is amazing! I used it once and the next day it looked like a normal âsoreâ. I used it a second time, and the following day the spot was almost completely healed up and the color of her black skin. It seems pricey, but a little goes a long way and it works!

What this cream did to help my poor Chihuahuaâs ears is amazing!! It helped heal the raw (hot) spots, stopped the scratching at her ears, after the first application. After 2 applications one of the very raw looking hot spot was almost gone. It is an odorless cream and not a greasy ointment. This stays on better, heals better than the prescription ointment I was using. Amazing stuff !!!

Heals Raw Hot Spots
As a result of allergies, my cat developed an itchy hot spot on his back and was prescribed several courses of prednisolone, much of which he vomited up. The sore spot would heal in time as long as he wore an E-collar, but as soon as I removed the E-collar, he would lick the healed spot raw again. Finally, in desperation, I went online and read reviews about topical treatments. This salve appealed to me because many reviewers said that it helped heal hot spots on cats, dogs, and even horses. The salve arrived on a day when my cat’s wound was the worst it had ever been, raw and miserable looking. I covered the wound with the salve and put the E-collar back on the cat. The salve really helped the wound heal. Even over night, I could see massive progress. Note that the salve never actually dissolves in the wound; instead, it sits on top of the wound like a protective scab. This is not an attractive look, but at any rate, the salve does work. The hot spot finally healed and fur is growing back over the spot. Unfortunately, the healed spot must still itch because my cat still tries to lick it raw if he can get at it. I am having him wear a comfortable cravat now instead of the clunky E-collar. At least I know that even if he does manage to get at the spot and lick it raw again, this salve will help heal the wound in a few days. If only I could treat his allergies and make the spot stop itching!
