Durable monitor
We love this monitor. Itâs compact, durable, great picture quality for the price and the fact that itâs not WiFi and has a great picture battery life and ease of use with no need for added apps or anything is a major plus for us. We live in the country, our mailbox is quite the walk down our driveway and the monitor works great, cuts out a little bit behind our coops or in the aviary and thatâs a little less distance than our mailbox but the mailbox is only one wall and the coops put 6 walls between where our toddler sleeps on the opposite side of our house, about 90ft working with all the walls is pretty impressive to us. Itâll cut out here and there gathering eggs but I can still catch glimpses until I move back into range, the drive is well over a hundred feet and I bet I could keep going and cross the highway if needed. This is actually our second time buying this exact model because we broke the last one after 20 months but thatâs definitely not on the manufacturer, my hands donât always work the way I want them to so Iâm always dropping smaller objects and Iâm not the best at making sure our toddler doesnât get ahold of it, he loves switching the cameras and turning on the music, the 2nd from last loop option with different songs is our favorite and what we use for his quite time before he actually sleeps but is in bed and you can turn on different music for different cameras. The battery life is also really nice. The first 13-15 months I left it on and would watch him sleep because of my own anxieties when it comes to sleeping babies and it would keep going about 4-5hrs before I plugged it in so I wouldnât risk it shutting down, while I slept, we didnât use the sound options back then so that might lower the battery life, Iâm unsure. Eco mode is what I use now that theyâre older and Iâm way less paranoid about how they sleep and Iâve only ever had it on for maybe 7hrs before plugging in to be safe but it still has quite the charge left. Iâve fallen asleep on the couch several times and when the battery gets low it beeps and wakes me up but I forget how long it was but it was definitely early morning hours by the time that happened. We plug it in every time theyâre awake, itâs kinda our thing, the baby thinks theyâve gotta do it themselves, just like when they get my phone, they go straight to plug it in because mom does that so often, dadâs not so lucky with his phone or the monitor when he gets the baby from bed, itâs automatically play time with either device. LolWeâve put the first one through the wringer though, battery back just broke 19m in and has been taped for a month and then our toddler had a bit of a tantrum last week and threw it across the floor on hardwood and mustâve dislodged the antenna because we lost a lot of range and the sound was static-y at that point too. It was still doing the job but a bit annoying so I ordered another one and this time I bought an extended warranty that covers this type damage through Amazon. It comes with 18m but not sure what that entails but I did register it. I got the one with one camera because I already had 2 cameras and was planning to order a 3rd one soon anyway because they donât cover a lot of the room, they can be hung in ways to cover more space but in smaller spaces, like a little nursery, I need multiples up. One for bed only and one for the other side of the room and now one for the door since they canât be in a crib or P&P any more because of climbing out. I still like one for bed only and a little closer so I can use the zoom to watch breaths or subtle movements, because thatâs just how I am, so the other two are for when theyâre moving around and Iâm not concerned about moving or not. The cameras arenât perfect, not by a long shot but they do the job and I see what I need to see without messing around with WiFi, which is very important to a lot of people, but we have multiple reasons why we needed non WiFi, we donât have internet access out here plus we donât want anyone else watching our baby. The night vision works really well and thatâs a huge plus since both of ours have been sensitive sleepers and need darkness to sleep. The price is right and if you have a NB the one camera will work fine for you for awhile then additional cameras, up to 4, but rotating screens not split so can work for multiple rooms with different music, are around $30ish. That still leaves this monitor well below the cost of other good models. If youâre looking for an affordable easy to use monitor with a great range and battery life but donât need all those unnecessary apps or have to give up a phone or other device just to watch your baby, I highly recommend this monitor. Itâs so simple yet has some great features seen in more expensive models. My baby even talks to me and signs over the camera since I made sure they knew I could see them all the time. Not the best picture added here since the blanket is pulled up and all the stuffies they drag in bed for nap time but I can see everything I need to see. I still canât believe how long it took me/us to break this thing, it kind of reminds me of the old school sound only monitors I used with my teen before video was affordable for everyone, hard to believe something with a screen took so many falls/tumbles/throws/missed pockets etc to finally break it just enough where I wanted a new one but still technically could have kept using it, just leaving it set up in certain areas where connections were still available. Itâs not fancy but itâs a nice small box with a very good quality picture for the price point and it definitely takes a beating from my arthritis ridden hands that donât always grip the way they should and a toddler thatâs fully in the stage where they canât quite communicate effectively but talk all the time and throw tantrums when theyâre not getting the point across stage. The sound is the white noise we use but itâs not the camera, itâs a different machine since Iâm using mid eco mode and camera sound does turn the screen on but not other white noise from fans and such. My baby will knock or talk when they wake up to turn off eco, because weâve played with the monitor together to teach the concept, we started doing this early on so they know they can look around and find the little green light and communicate with me at anytime to any camera. Iâve seen complaints about the light on them but theyâve helped us help our baby learn to self soothe from just months old, knowing we were there even when not. I originally did the bundle with the movement detection alarm for Sidâs safety but never did get to try them out since they were out of the risk age by the time they transitioned out of our room and the mattress used wouldnât work for it.
Random Factoids –
Excellent range, great handset, a fantastic value at $50
I tried this V24R video monitor after my experiences with the equivalent Vtech model, and this won hands down. The V24R has excellent range: far better than the VM819, slightly better than the audio-only DM111 (less cutting in/out in marginal conditions), though not quite as strong as the VM923 with its external antennas.Unlike the Vtech video monitors, the parent unit in the V24R has a user-replaceable rechargeable battery, so you don’t have to worry about throwing it out in a year or two.Other pluses:* The V24R’s parent unit is more compact and easily pocketable than the Vtech ones.* The V24R has 5 LEDs to indicate audio level rather than 3, which provides far better visual feedback when you have the sound off.* The alert tone when the parent unit loses signal is a reasonable volume.* The UI is very quick and responsive, with the screen toggling on and off immediately when you tap the power button.* The Babysense includes a proper manual.Unlike the Vtech video monitors, the Babysense won’t turn the display back on automatically when the sound level increases unless you use “Eco” mode, which also mutes the audio, leaving only the LED meter on. This is largely a matter of preference though: since the Babysense responds so quickly when you tap the button to turn on the display, the loss of automatically turning on while still being able to hear sound doesn’t bother me in practice. If you don’t mind muted audio, the Babysense’s Eco mode will check that box. There’s some room for improvement in the UI, but nothing dire. I wish the night light wasn’t the first menu item, since I don’t want to turn that on by accident. Putting Eco mode first would be preferable, as would putting the night light last. As it is, I’ll do some surgery on the camera to disable the night light. When I bought this, it was the same price as the VM819 and far superior. It doesn’t seem to be available at the moment, though, so YMMV.

Just works.
I have been using this for nearly 4 months now, running almost continuously 24/7 – it just works and works. Moreover, it works well. My house is ~2400 sqft on one level, and there is no issue with receiving the signal from one side of the house to another through several walls. Reading reviews here I didn’t expect this kind of performance. I wish the viewing angle on the monitor were better, but that’s only a minor quibble I suppose. Lastly, this is a good product in that there’s no internet involved, no server in china, etc… the receiver does some kind of handshaking with the camera; don’t know how secure it is, but supposedly it’s encrypted somehow.

Disappointed in this purchase
The monitor worked really well for the first month I was so impressed.Picture quality both daytime and nighttime were really clear. Sound and motion quality was great as well.To my surprise after one month of using the product the monitor refused to work all that appeared on the screen is that it was unable to pair to the camera so I was unable to use the device. Despite many attempts to pair the device again it never started to work so I have to buy another monitor.. I live in the Caribbean to return the device is gonna cost money and I already feel I lost my money by purchasing this device.Amazon I want a refund or a new monitor!!!!
