Released in August 2022, our 3rd generation water bottle holder is designed to carry a 1L Smartwater bottle (2.75″ diameter). The holder easily attaches (see ‘Install Video’) to your backpack’s shoulder strap with a snap hook at the top and three rear elastic bands to provide stability when hiking. Top and bottom loop pull tabs make it easy to insert and pull water bottle out of the holder. Ultralight weight of 0.5 ounces. Holder dimensions are 4” x 9.5”. The design, material, and stitching used to produce this holder ensures it’s as functional, durable, and ultra-light weight as possible. A little about the material we use: The front and back panels are made of super durable 100% nylon mesh. The elastic straps, cording, and buckle are made from high-strength nylon. Our craftspeople use reinforced stitching techniques to ensure extreme durability along each seam. If you prefer to have the holder sit approximately 1.5″ higher on your shoulder strap and be attached without the snap hook, please watch the Install Video to see how to remove the snap hook and use the lower buckle as the fastener. Please note that your backpack must have detachable shoulder straps as our holders slide around a shoulder strap. Also, you can carry the Smart Water bottle upside down (see photo) as some hikers find it easier to insert the bottle into the holder this way. All of our products have exceptional design, material, craftsmanship, and customer service. They are backed by our ‘Forever Guarantee’….our gear is built to last forever, so if you ever have a problem, no matter how old it is, let us know and we’ll send you a replacement.

    Great product!
I added this to my ULA Circuit pack for a weeklong backpacking trip in the San Juans and it was exactly what I needed. It’s affordable, super lightweight and fit my 700 ml water bottle and pack perfectly. Thanks Mountain Mike! I highly recommend this product.

    So convenient
Very good quality. Easy to install on the pack shoulder strap and is a perfect size for a smartwater bottle. Much easier to access the bottle compared to reaching behind to the backpack pockets. The convenience will help me stay hydrated during longer hikes. I bought 2 and I’m very happy!

    Too large for some backpacks.
We bought this for my daughter, as her new backpack didn’t have a water bottle pocket and I didn’t want to risk the water bottle leaking in her backpack. It serves its purpose totally fine, but the elastic that goes around the strap is much too large for the strap itself. I ended up having to safety pin the elastic bands in place on the strap because it just kept falling straight down to the bottom of the strap. All in all, I’m still very pleased with this purchase. Part of me says that it’s meant for adults, and that’s why the child’s backpack strap is too narrow, but part of me says that backpack straps are pretty much a standard size, whether child or adult, so it should fit the backpack. I’d recommend it, but have some pins ready to use to keep it in place.

Sleeve to small for some bottles.
Even though I read the reviews of the sleeve being kind of two small for a 1-liter Smart water bottle I decided to give it a try anyway because of the low cost compared to other ultralight bottle holders. The reviews are correct as I do also find the sleeve to be too tight for a 1L smart water bottle. It is very difficult to get in and out with one hand. I like the design, and the quality seems to be just fine. I am going to see if I can find a different bottle that will fit better otherwise it will be non-functional for me. Time will tell.

    Excellent product
This is a well made pouch. One modification that I felt was needed was adding a piece of Velcro around the load lifter strap on my backpack, as I didn’t love using the stretch cord to support a liter bottle. I removed the clip and used the buckle that was supplied. I will be buying a few more of these.

Water bottle within easy reach on my day pack
The side pockets of my REI day hiking pack are difficult to reach without taking the pack off, and that’s not always convenient. A friend of mine had a mesh carrier and I liked the idea. I chose Mountain Mike’s Bottle Holder over others because it was deeper at 9-1/2″. I took my time fiddling with it to get the perfect fit on my pack. Yes, I had to disconnect the strap from the body of my pack to slide in on but it’s a good set up, attached to the grab handle and running under the shoulder strap “sleeve”. I’ve attached a small carabiner to the holder’s loop to attach to the flip top lid of my water bottle (20 oz) to keep it in place if I have to duck low under a fallen tree. Is it tricky to get the bottle back in the holder? A little… but do it enough, and you figure out the best way to do it, and I don’t struggle any more. It’s way better than contorting my arms to reach the side pockets of my pack. Mike, I’d love it if the logo were visible rather than on the side which sits against the strap. 🙂

    I didn’t like it
The problem with this item is it has to slip over the end of the strap that tightens the shoulder strap on your backpack. The end of the strap has to slip all the way out of the plastic buckle at the bottom. So the pack I bought this for doesn’t allow for the strap to slip all the way out-it’s not designed to do that. So I had to cut and re-fit the shoulder strap just to put this thing onThe next problem was that once I cut and modified my pack, the bottle holder STILL failed to stay in place and gravity caused it to always slip down to the bottom of the strap when it didn’t have a water bottle in it, where this holder would then get wrapped up in my hand. AnnoyingThis item is a good idea in theory but bad in execution. I cut it up and trashed it

    Perfect for a smartwater bottle
My Osprey backpack doesn’t have an easily accessible water bottle pouch/holder, and I don’t like using water bladders, so I added this and love it.

My wife and I do a fair bit of hiking and have used both water bladders and just putting the water bottle on the side of our back packs. This little front carrier is probably the most handy couple extra Oz a person can add to their gear. Definitely a asset when hiking
