Ingenious Product
The cheapest gaming headsets cost around $25-$50 and even the more expensive ones usually lack depth in sound quality, but for $10 I was able to transform my current headphones with excellent sound quality into a gaming headset. The product materials look and feel high quality. The cord is made of a durable braided material and the volume wheel and microphone mute switch function perfectly.
Consumer Outlook –
Doesnât work with Bose, but decent on other headsets.
This doesnât work with Bose headsets. I made the mistake of not checking before ordering. I wanted to add a boom mic to my Bose QC45 like I have on my Bose QC35 Series 2 Gaming Headset. (Bose didnât make a boom mic option for the QC45 as it did with the QC35, so Iâm stuck with third-party solutions.) I didnât realize that Bose uses a 2.5mm port on the headset over the standard 3.5mm, and so this item doesnât work on them.That said, I was able to get it to work fine on my Sony WHCH710N Noise Cancelling Headphones. Hereâs what I learned:1) The microphone sounds clear. But itâs boomy; more bass than my other gaming headsets. I used it while playing Overwatch 2 (on PC) with my daughter, and she said it sounds like Iâm in a studio. When I type on my keyboard, the mic picks it up, but only slightly. With the cover (removable windscreen) on the end, it does block out and muffles some noises.2) The connection on both ends is solid and there are no crackling noises when moving. That said, because the cord is cloth, it can make noise by rubbing on your shirt. The volume button and mic mute operate as expected.3) The boom mic does swivel easily and can get nudged out of position. This is because the only thing keeping it in place (horizontally) is the port itâs plugged into. That said, the arm itself is metal and does hold its shape well.4) I measured the full cord at about 7.7 feet long, which is plenty for most situations. Even if you have your computer on the floor. But it can feel like a bit too much when plugged into a console controller, forcing you to wrap the extra out of the way. I measured the boom mic arm at approximately 6.5 inches long, which easily extends to my mouth.### Conclusion ###While this boom mic doesnât work with my Bose as intended, itâs my fault for not researching beforehand. It does a fair job with my Sony, so itâs not a total loss for me. Thereâs no crackling as the connection is solid. The sound quality is as good as your software allows. The microphone, IMO, sounds better than the one on my Alienware AW520H, but not as good as the one on my Bose QC35 Series 2 Gaming Headset, if only because the increased bass can be off-putting for gaming. Overall, Iâd say this is a good value and works well. Itâs worth considering so long as you have a headset thatâs compatible with 3.5mm connectors.

Turn Your Headphones Into a Gaming Headset.
This cable completely transformed my Sony WH1000XM3 headphones into a gaming headset. The audio is crystal clear, which makes it great for gaming. I really like the braided cable because itâs durable and holds up well against my cats, who love chewing on cords whenever they can. It also has a mute button for the mic, and the cable is long enough to give you plenty of room to move around. I have a pair of Skullcandy Crusher ANC2 and wished that I had a microphone to add onto it. The Microphone quality is amazing and has a pretty nice flat response. The cable is very nice and I love how long the cable is. The inline controls work amazingly and the microphone mute switch is very useful. The cable is very flexible and durable and honestly what more could you ask for? For the value of the money itâs absolutely work it if you want a microphone solution to your favorite pair of headphones!

+ This converts earbuds into a headset as well, if you use a male to female converter (See image).- The pick up on the mic could be better. It states that the microphone is omnidirectional, but I disagree. It seems very clear that you have to talk into one specific part of the microphone for it to really pick up well. all the other spots have poor pick-up.+ I appreciate the braided, heavy duty cable and the metallic adjustable mic neck.+ The slack on this cable is plenty long for most use cases.
