IVDD mostly occurs in the range from the neck to the back of the dog, and the highest proportion of IVDD occurs between the eleventh thoracic vertebra and the third lumbar vertebra, about 75%. I helped my dog

Dog support belt
When my dog ââhad difficulty moving due to arthritis, I decided to try a brace designed for dogs. It was very easy to put on and it really works! The stabilizers in the brace fit snugly around his back, giving him much-needed support. After using it, I found that the brace did not affect his daily activities and he was still able to run and jump around as lively as before, but now with more confidence and strength. Runs really small around
This brace seemed well made, and well-sized everywhere except for around the chest/middle area of the dog. I got a small, which should have fit my little old lady beagle…and it fit everywhere but the middle. I think the concept would have worked great too, since her rear legs are barely working and have kind of atrophied. I was looking for something she could wear more on a full-time basis and still lie down, etc. She has wheels, but can’t really lie down with those. I really wish this would have fit her better. I think the next size up would be too big everywhere else.

very good quality
My Cavalier has had a few sporadic stumbling episodes going up/down stairs and the vet wasn’t sure if related to the UTI or if she was developing IVDD which is common for the breed. I ordered this brace hoping to help her stabilize her lumbar region and ease any pain she may have. It’s very well made of quality materials and appears it should work well, unfortunately I had to return the brace. I ordered a small knowing that it would be snug, but it was way too tight and the plastic buckles in front even when fully extended rubbed on her bone. She was so uncomfortable she didn’t want to move much.This sizing is the reason for 4 stars. At 16 lbs she easily fits the size Small, but needs a Medium in the chest and a Large for the back. Do not use the weight sizing and if your dog is long in the body use the back length for sizing no matter what the weight is.
