    High quality, long lasting
Very high quality and solid metal construction design. Added this to my Apec RO system; it was very easy to install and works very well with the system with all included tubes and fittings easily able to accommodate the water flow rate of the RO system. Had the system installed for two years now with no issue such as leakage etc. I’ve observed a noticeable improvement in the taste of the water and also noticed that our refillable water bottles stay cleaner and less “funky” for longer periods of time. The flow controlled on/off timer is really nice allowing the UV light to shut off when not in use as to not heat up the water and filter, like in some other systems. Price feels a little bit steep, but might be worth it for such a high quality long lasting product.

    Great UV Sterilizer!
I bought the UVF55FS for my rainwater system and it’s working great! At first, I thought I’d wasted my money because, after completely flushing my entire system, a coliform bacteria test came out positive. It did it again after a second complete flush. I finally realized that bacteria are pretty sticky and some will inevitably remain stuck to the sides of the pipes, even after multiple attempts to wash them out. So I decided to fill the whole system with a strong concentration of chlorine bleach and I let it stand for 3 hours. Then I flushed the entire system out again until all traces of chlorine odor were gone. I continued using the system for washing but not drinking for a few days then retested for bacteria. This time, the test showed ZERO bacteria. I even let the test incubate for a couple extra days to be sure. One thing I’d recommend is NOT waste your money on the version that I did with the flow sensor. I think the flow sensor is a bad idea now that I’ve had some experience and more time to think about it. For one thing, the flow sensor will not turn the UV lamp on until flow rate rises to 0.66 GPM. So if you use this mode and you run some water at anything less that this rate, the bacteria-contaminated water entering the UV unit can pass right through without being sterilized. Another problem is that even when the lamp turns on, it will take it a while to come up to full intensity, allowing more unsterilized water to pass through. Yet another problem is that the lamp may not last as long if it’s continuously cycled on and off. Therefore, I’m leaving mine on 100% of the time and expect to replace it in 1 year.A few corrections for the manual:On page 4, it incorrectly states the maximum water pressure allowed is 43 PSI. Page 3 apparently has the correct spec which is 85 PSI. It’s also stated on page 12: 4 PSI min / 85 PSI max.On page 4, it says to make sure the inlet is at the bottom if you mount the unit vertically because they incorrectly say it will slow down water flow. It won’t slow the flow regardless of putting the inlet at the top or bottom. The only way their statement could be true is if the bottom port was left open so water could fall out with no back-pressure. When installed in your home’s water system, the difference between pressure-tank pressure and the back-pressure is what determines flow rate, not the orientation of the UV unit. Orientation doesn’t effect this at all.On page 8, it says “Mode AUTO is highly recommended to protect the UV lamp.”. Not true and definitely NOT recommended. On page 9, it says the “system is designed for continuous operation, and frequent switching will reduce ultraviolet radiation and service life.” which directly contradicts the statement on page 8. I believe this statement on page 9 is correct and you should ignore the AUTO mode recommendation. Don’t even purchase the version with the flow sensor so you won’t have an AUTO mode in the first place!Note that if your home experiences a power outage, unless you use some kind of uninterruptable power supply, your UV sterilizer will be off and any bacteria and viruses can then pass into your potable water system when you turn on a faucet. Mine is on solar with battery storage so is much less of a problem but I still may add a UPS for the UV unit.Lastly, I DO highly recommend this unit after seeing the bacteria test results.

    UV Piggyback
Simple to install . Sits perfectly atop my before purchased STOKK RO System. Love the blue glow visible when there’s water flowing. Tested quality, no bacteria present whatsoever. Very pleased. Used strong tape to secure to my RO system.

    Good system old technology
The system is solid. The price was good $280. The technology uses florescent bulbs at ~$80 delivered. The bulbs last about a year. And lets be candid florescent technology is about 80 years old. How hard would it be to have a UVC LED strip (bulb) that would last 5 to 10 years? And though this isn’t my thing Technology could monitor the bulb and even it’s effectiveness and send an email when it has problems. All of this could be none externally with a new slip in more permanent solution that the ancient expendable tech.Just for reference I put in some bypass valves and unions for easy maintenance. If the technology hadn’t improved in the last 10 to 20 years, this would get 5 stars. It is solid – easy to install and it works. It is hard to appreciate how something as simple as a UV bulb in a chamber can be ‘old tech’ but it is.iSpring – let me know when you upgrade the bulb. I am looking into making one for my needs this winter, it’s actually pretty simple.

    New ballast design fixes problem
I purchased a UVF55FS system with flow sensor switch in 2022 but didn’t give a review then. After the install it didn’t work right with the ballast switched to “Auto” like others experienced and mentioned in their reviews. The ISpring customer service was good, and they sent me both replacement bulbs and ballasts in 2022 in an attempt to fix the problem, but even after replacements the ballast would only switch on and off a few times in “Auto” until it had an error. Clearly there was something wrong with the ballast design, and per ISpring’s recommendation I put the ballast in “On” mode and it worked that way until recently. But I was always frustrated that it didn’t work right in Auto – the whole reason I purchased this system was to avoid having the bulb on all the time, since we’re often gone for long periods. About a month ago (fall of 2024), I looked through reviews and information online and learned that ISpring had a new ballast design for this system. I called up ISpring, explained my problem to Michele, and she agreed to send a new ballast to me free of charge, even though my system was out of warranty. When it arrived it came with a new flow switch – the connector is different for the new ballast (by the way, I learned that I could unscrew and only change out the black plastic parts and avoided changing out the complete brass body of the sensor). I installed both and it has been working perfectly now in “Auto” mode for about a month. I’m on a well with pressure tank, so the water only flows occasionally when the tank is being refilled and the new ballast has a timer that keeps it on for 300s after water stops running. So it isn’t turning on and off very frequently. Great to finally have a completely working system!

This uv filter is solid built. It came well packaged but some parts ( O-rings) were missing. Kudos to their customer service representative Michele who quickly resolved this. Once the o-rings arrived, I installed the filter connecting it to the main line from the pressure tank so clean water supplied to the whole house. Be carefull when assembling the filter – the glass tube and uv lamp are very long and fragile. Instructions are easy to follow. Installed it vertically resting on the floor – this filter is very heavy and I didn’t trust the plastic fasteners. Had to reduce the water pressure in my tank because the quartz glass tube seems can’t handle more than 43 psi. Turned the uv lamp to auto mode. Will see how long it is going to last. Water test results came clear, so this stuff works. P.S. be generous with teflon tape for plumbing and have a 2 or 3 large towels ready in case you have leaks after the test and need to correct or retighten the connections.

  9. Amazon Customer

We added the iSpring UVF55FS Whole House UV Water Filter to our whole home Ispring filtration system. Initially we may have experienced a flow switch problem as an error light would blink and sound when the unit sat idle. We contacted the company and immediately received assistance from Julius who worked with us daily as we tried to identify the issue. He then shipped us out some new components and once installed have had no issues and the unit works perfectly. Customer service was amazing!

I bought UV lamp “like new” that was inspected by Amazon as an addition to an previously purchased set of iSpring RCC7AK. Unfortunately, there were no 2 connectors type L in the box and I was forced to buy an additional set for connecting water of 6.35 mm (the kit came not the one that was ordered, but I used type connectors I and L, instead of 2 type L). I did not find any difficulties with installation and integration into the iSpring RCC7AK reverse osmosis system. The manual is very simple and understandable.
