As the picture shows it will go through an onion and is easy to slice.
There was nothing to dislike. I bought this product to slice tomatoes . Could not cut a tomato free handed but this will give you about the same slices every time . Works well, build quality, ease of use, ease of cleaning, good design.

Pretty Handy Once You Get the Hang of It
I finally used the onion Holder for slicing stuff. It was delivered on time on the weekend. By Tuesday I was curious and had a couple of tomatoes that were beyond their prime but I eat âem until they look moldy. I was surprised it took an extra effort to get the tines through the core but once they were seated the slicing was easy using a tomato knife.I noticed I didnât have any cucumbers sliced for a salad so I washed and peeled one and inserted the Onion Holder. I used a ceramic cutting knife and it was very easygoing. There isnât a lot of room between the tines, of course, so the blade scraped occasionally. Once the cuke was sliced I cut some of them in quarters and added them to the salad. Tasted great! Iâm glad I bought this veggie holder.The quality of the tool is excellent and the workmanship is very sturdy. I think if the kids are going to use the tool they should be under supervision until they can handle knives properly. As I mentioned earlier, I was surprised it took an extra effort to get the tines through the core. It made me think that a younger child might struggle keeping the tool under control and hurt themselves if their balance became compromised.The Onion Holder is pretty useful, well made, and inexpensive. I think theyâd make great gifts or stocking stuffers but not for an anniversary. Who wants kitchen gadgets for an anniversary? Get her something special thatâs all about her. It works very well. I have used it twice and it seems strudy enough to do the job. I found slicing and dicing an onion easier and much faster.

I donât like to slice onions. I canât make uniform slices.This tool is very sharp and can easily pierce an onion, or cucumber any vegetable that you would slice. The spacing of the âspearsâ allows a great variation of widths of slices. I can see a long future using this tool.
