Iâve struggled with falling and staying asleep for as long as I can remember, literally since I was a teenager. I donât really want to use prescription medication to sleep â although thatâs the only thing that truly works for me â so Iâm constantly looking for something else that works. One of those things is doxylamine. The typical container at the grocery store has about 24 tablets and costs around $10. When I found this at Costco, I couldnât believe how huge the container was and how little it cost. I donât have a Costco membership anymore, but here it is, so I will continue to buy it. I take a pill about an hour before bed, along with melatonin and valerian root, and after about an hour or sometimes two, I fall asleep. I usually stay asleep for most of the night when I take this cocktail. This works better and lasts longer than Benadryl (active ingredient: diphenhydramine) and as long as I allow myself eight or nine hours between taking this medication and the time I need to get up, I donât feel overly tired in the morning â you know, the âhangoverâ feeling.I recommend this highly if you canât sleep. The price is great and it works!

Doxylamine Succinate is probably the best OTC sleep aid
Doxylamine Succinate is probably the best OTC sleep aid you can get without a prescription. Take it about 30mins to a hour before you want to be asleep by. Once you take it, you need to be in bed, relaxing and decompressing for it to work. If you take it but then continue to do stuff, anything other than getting in bed ready to go to sleep, then it won’t work, you’re defeating its purpose. Take it and get into bed. It helps me go to sleep, stay asleep, and if I get up in the middle of the night, I’m able to quickly go back to sleep. This one is a good deal compared to Unisom brand.

Work, but with side effects.
I tried these because I kept waking up at around 3:00 every night. These allow me to sleep through the night undisturbed, but I feel super sluggish in the morning. I avoid taking them when I can.

I am a restless sleeper and often have trouble falling asleep. I had used Benadryl for years then began to read articles should not be taking the pink Benadryl but should use the next generation of Benadryl for sleep called SLEEP AID, in the blue/green. I have used for a year plus. Recently I noticed Kirkland put out their brand of sleep aid. I bought some and tried it. Works like my original brand purchased but is $2.21 cheaper. I was impressed and would recommend the cheaper brand, also.Note: I purchase both on Amazon.
