Difficult when you own multiple newborn pets under 3 weeks old

Sahra was overwhelmed. In her small home, she cared for a newborn puppy, an orphaned kitten, and a tiny two-week-old parrot. With no parents to nurture them, the responsibility fell solely on her shoulders. Feeding these fragile souls turned into a nightmare. She didn’t know where to start. The options for baby bottle-feeding supplies seemed endless, yet none addressed her unique situation.

She needed puppy nipples for nursing newborn and infant puppy bottles to meet its nutritional demands. Even the parrot required meticulous care. Feeding Kittens

Daily weight gain is a sign that the diet is meeting the kitten’s nutritional needs

Weigh your kitten at the same time every day, not only to ensure adequate weight gain, but also to calculate how much food they should eat at each feeding.

Instructions for bottle feeding kittens Kittens must be warm, they cannot digest well if their body temperature is low Mix one part powdered kitten formula to two parts water Feed kittens under 2 weeks of age at least every 2 hours Kittens should eat 30 cc of formula for every 4 ounces of body weight in 24 hours.

How much milk should a newborn puppy drink?

In other words, how much milk should a puppy drink? The amount and frequency of milk feeding will depend on the age and size of the puppy.

In general, a newborn puppy should drink half its body weight (1/2) of milk per day.

However, it is best to consult your veterinarian if you want to know the exact amount of milk to give your dog. The amount of milk a newborn puppy should drink each day also depends on how you feed it.

Be careful when feeding your dog milk using a syringe or a bottle, as these two methods have different measurements and feeding a dog milk from a bottle is more difficult than feeding a dog milk from a syringe.

Newborn: drink every 2 hours 1 week old and up: every 3 – 4 hours Do not use a bottle, use a syringe to feed your dog (do not use a needle, use a pacifier) 4 – 5 weeks old: Still give your dog milk, but start weaning them 8 weeks old: Introduce solids or pet food to your dog

Bottle feeding puppies

Puppies have special nutritional needs and you need to feed them milk several times a day.

Because they are so small and fragile, you should only feed newborn puppies milk. You can bottle feed them or use a syringe to inject milk into their mouths if they are too fragile to drink milk on their own.

However, it is best to consult your veterinarian if you want to know the exact amount of milk for your dog. The amount of milk for newborn puppies each day also depends on how you feed them milk.

    Good little nursing kit
TLDR at bottom.I got this nursing kit for the nipples. I didn’t particularly care about anything else, though they’re a nice bonus.I foster neonatal kittens. Once they reach 3 or so weeks of age they start teething. Feeding them becomes a hassle, especially when they start biting off the tips of the small pink & brown nipples that are better for feeding them up until that point. On my most recent litter I decided to try a nipple similar to these, except there weren’t pre punched holes so I snipped the end off – which left a hole a bit bigger than desired. It got the job done, but what a mess! But the nipple survived their teething & weaning due to it being a thicker material.Like these nipples are. Except these nipples have holes in them already! Seriously it’s the little things like pre punched holes in bottle nipples that make me so happy. I’d definitely spend $10 to get a few nipples like these without anything else in the set. Some of the rest of the items will come in handy too. The bottle will definitely get used. Little measuring cups are always useful, and that spoon is going to be great for starting kittens on gruel at weaning. The syringes are like any other plunger syringe – one use item. You’d be lucky to feed 2 kittens before this type of syringe, from any brand, stops sliding. Another reviewer mentioned the box is cheap. It is. I keep bottles and nipples in a thick plastic storage box already so the quality of this box doesn’t matter to me.TLDR: Great kit overall as long as you know what to expect. Box is crap & all syringes of this type are one use – no matter what brand they are. Everything else, most especially the nipples, make this a great kit for those who raise or foster neonates.

Good variety of tools to get the job done
I got this kit to more easily administer medications for my adult cat, who is resistant to taking liquid medications. It works great for that since I can test and use different things to determine what works best and also change it up so he can’t figure out a new way to resist. The tools for nursing seem pretty decent in that there is a wide variety of nipples, syringes, and other tools so you’d have a wide arsenal to work with.- Good variety of tools for various medication administration or nursing baby animals- Container box is pretty flimsy feeling so it’s probably not going to last long and it’s a puzzle to get all the pieces to fit in it properly. You’ll probably end up storing these in a zip loc bag or another container.- Quality seems a bit flimsy on the spoon, cup, and bottle. The plastic is very thin and likely to wear up faster and need replacing if you’re using them frequently. But if you only need them sparingly it should be fine for a while.

Don’t underestimate value of a carrying case
I have ordered a few of these kits over the years. If you have kids that ‘rescues’ strays, it’s a good idea to have these on hand. Stray kittens take some work to tame and food seems to be the key to taming quite a few animals.I haven’t used the bottles yet, but they are very comparable to most kitten bottles on the market. The syringes are standard also. The part of the kit that needs replacing most often are the nipples. For whatever reason, things will work find for a bit and overnight the kittens will all be chewing them apart. If you have a partially chewed one, you may decide to replace it but don’t throw it away yet. You will likely be using them way past the point where you think they’ll work.I expected to like this about the same as any standard set, but the plastic case really makes this easy for keeping everything together. This also has parts like the spoon and cough medicine sized cup. I don’t know how much they’ll help but if working with a single kitten I could see microwaving in the tiny cup.

Well made but the pacifiers are little too large
The kitten bottle and nursing kit are well made and convenient to use. However, the pacifiers included are slightly too large for my newborn kittens. The feeding kit, including the medicine dropper, has been handy for caring for my little ones. The pacifiers, made from pre-punched food-grade silicone, stored in a compact box, are a nice addition, but unfortunately not suitable for the tiny mouths of my kittens. Overall, a good quality product with useful accessories, but the pacifier size could be improved for smaller animals.

    Great little set
Love the container and it snaps really nicely. The nipples already have holes in them which made me happy since the bottles I have I have to cut the nipple and that’s hard to do perfectly so we tend to use a needle and work it. Which takes time and you can go too far. So I like its already ready to use.

A nice selection of syringes and tips for small pets
The kit comes with a nice selection of nipple types. The two syringes have dark, easy to read measurements, allowing for precise amounts of fluid. The syringe with the curved tip good for fussy eaters. The other syringe can be used with the various nipples. The squeeze bottle, spoon, and cup have measurements in light colored text, making them a bit harder to read. The handle on the spoon is hollow with measurement markers. Once filled tot the desired amount, it can be tilted forward, and the liquid drains into the spoon to be taken. It comes in a handy carry case. However, it’s very cramped with everything put back. The curved syringe needs to be placed at an odd angle to fit so the case snaps shut.
