Easy To Clean & Extremely Quiet
We use this in our condo apartment with a different unit in our bedroom. The Levoit works extremely well, keeping the apartment at a comfortable humidity level. My goal was to keep the apartment in the 40% range. We only use it in the auto mode, and I initially set the unit to 45%, but its humidity monitor reads lower than our stand-alone temp/humidity monitors. It would run constantly even though the other monitors were reading 45%. So I decided to decrease the target humidity, but you can only go in 5% increments using the on-device controls, and 40% was a bit too low. So I did install the Vesync app, which allows you to set any level you want. Our sweet spot is 43%. The app is easy to use and connects immediately to the unit, although I still think it’s ridiculous to have a “smart” humidifier, but to gradually adjust your humidity level in less than 5% increments, you will need the app.Cleaning is much easier than with past humidifiers I’ve had. I use one of those little fish-shaped floating cleaner things that many use in their aquariums, as well as humidifiers. They do a very good job, and so far, my routine is to rinse the unit out weekly and wipe all surfaces with a water and vinegar solution; we’ve had no mold or fungal growth. The unit we use in our bedroom is a Dreo, which also works very well, and it’s also set to 43%, which is our sweet spot. The Levoit is the quieter of the two and would not disturb anyone even if it’s at your bedside. This is a very well-made and good-looking device which I highly recommend.

Excellent – But FOLLOW DIRECTIONS
This is the best humidifier I have ever owned and I have owned many. I heat my 2000 sq ft home with a pellet stove and the main room of about 400 square feet is kept at about 80 degrees all winter. So, you can imagine how dry it can get. This Levoit 6 gallon evaporative humidifier does the job. I have to fill it about once per day.I have NO problem with odor or keeping the wick filters clean. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. Use the dryer setting between refills. It totally dries out the wick filters which helps to keep bacteria and such from growing.I use filtered tap water. I fill using a 3 gallon bucket that fits in my sink. DO use a a water additive. The directions say not to, but I think that is mostly meant so you won’t go trying to add bleach or scents. There are water additives you can buy in bulk on Amazon that are meant specifically for wick humidifiers. The one I use works perfectly. I add about 3 oz to each refill of 6 gallons. No smell, no slime whatsoever. I’ve been using the unit since November and it is now almost February and the original wick filters are still in great shape. I do not rinse out or clean the filters. Using the dryer setting and the water additive keeps them in great condition.ALSO – as the unit draws down the water, it will shut itself off with about 1-2 quarts of water still at the bottom. The water is often yellowish and has a bit of an odor. This is normal. It is important not to leave this water sitting in the unit for a prolonged time (like days). EMPTY IT! And then just give the tub a very quick rinse, wipe it out with a paper towel and you are ready to refill. Very simple. But you have to do what you are supposed to do when you are supposed to do it. Do this and the unit will work perfectly and your filters will last a long time. I see no reason why my filters will not last until the Spring when I stop using my pellet stove.BTW – this unit creates NO white dust or powder. It also does not put water droplets into the air. I have mine about 2 feet from a glass patio door and there is never any condensation on the door or the glass. No water or moisture around the unit ever. The only thing that gets moist is the air. The controls are great too. You get to set the moisture level to your liking. I set mine at 45%. I have a free standing hygrometer that I place on the other side of the room that confirms that the moisture in the air is in fact about 45%.Just remember – do what you are supposed to do – when you are supposed to do it -and I think you will really like this unit. And DO use a specialized additive to the water to keep the unit and the wicks clean and odor free.
