This Litter Genie is the one to get
I had another litter genie for quite a number of years that I need to replace it. But there were things about the old one that I found a little annoying so I decided to replace it with this one and Iâm really glad I did
Here are the reasons why I like this litter genie better than the other.
1. This one DOESNâT have a spring enclosure but regardless it still does a great job of trapping in and keeping out litter odor.
My previous genie: had a spring loaded enclosure to trap the litter in the smell. This made it hard to open with one hand when you have a full scooper in the other.
2. This new Genie is more economically designed so when you open the lid to scoop the litter, it stays open whereas the old genies lid sometimes would close when youâre in the middle of scooping.
I have three cats who are champion poopers this little genie is doing a great job and Iâm very happy with
The only thing negative I have to say is that the lid flips open a little easier than the old one so if you need to move it, just grab it from the bottom so you donât have any spilling accidents.

Convenient for litter box in bedroom
I have an elderly (18 year old) cat that has recently decided walking through the length of the house to use the litter box is not acceptable, so she started going on the carpet in my bedroom. I wasn’t particularly thrilled about a litter box in my room, but didn’t have many other choices. I figured out real quick that something like the diaper genie would be really handy and make cleaning the litter box daily less of an annoyance. It does a good job of capturing the odors, I think the capacity of litter that can go in a bag before it needs to be tied off and dumped is really good, and appreciate the scoop holder on the side of the unit. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Fantastic improvements!
So much better than the original. Soft close lid, removed springs from the slide part that you pull back to allow the waste to go into the canister. Stays cleaner, neater looking.

Best one from all Iâve tried
I used every litter genie brand for cat litter that there is. Original, the extra tall and anti bacterial one, also the one with the bags that are in the box on the bottom. This one is my favorite. Not sure why itâs hard to find this one the market. When switching the bag cartridges, itâs super easy and even if it opens in half at the middle, to take the bag out, it doesnât flip over as the original one. The quality is great. My favorite part is that you can slide open the part that separates the litter from the filling area, because it doesnât have a spring so when cleaning the litter box, you can leave that open so that the dirty litter can fall straight into the bad, without having to pull it open after every couple clumps. With two cats there are usually a few clumps to take out of the litter box at once. Once youâre done, just push it back in. Just make sure that itâs pushed in all the way, this way the smell doesnât come out. The capacity is perfect in my opinion. I prefer to take the bag out once a week instead of collecting for two weeks and then having to put a giant bag into a trash bag. Itâs less heavy and you can put it in your regular thrash until taking it to the dump. The smell doesnât escape from the litter bag while itâs in your regular trash bag waiting to be taken out. The opening for the clumps is just as wide as the original one. The tall ones have a much smaller opening.
I will purchase a second one for sure. The other litter genies are junk at as a backup now, this is the only one I use.

Doesn’t contain smell as much as I hoped for
Overall it’s a decent product. I like how easy it is to use compared to the original litter genie pail. I can pull the release handle with one hand and it’s easier to change out the bags and replacement refills. It’s so easy to open it up but if you’re someone that moves the pail often, it’s not that convenient. The handle is located in the back middle of the pail – which makes for awkward transporting around
It however does NOT contain the smell as well. It could be that because the handle area at the back directly leads to where the waste is at…
For what it is, it is a bit expensive especially having to buy refilling- not to mention that it’s not really environmentally friendly. I have been purchasing generic refill bags but ive noticed that those are thinner than the brand name ones. So beware !

Love it- but read the instructions!
this is my first time owning any litter genie and i LOVE it! i always took cat bags straight to my outside trashcan so my kitchen trash wouldnât smell. now, it just goes into the litter genie until itâs full. it contains the smell great and will hold about a weekâs worth of waste between two cats before i have to empty it. the bags are heavy duty and donât let out any smell with the lid and door closed, and they wonât break or tear. itâs small and light enough to carry between my two litter boxes in the same room, even when with the bag almost full and iâm doing the last scoops.
the only thing i will say is read the instructions with the bag refill. i ended up accidentally removing the whole top of the refill pack and the entire bag started coming out and i couldnât get it back in, so i had to buy another one. but have had no issues since then! might just be a me problem. i think itâs a great product for anyone who wants to contain the used litter smell.

Overall, we’ve been really happy with this purchase. It makes removing and keeping used kitty litter much easier and definitely reduces the awful smell, as it smartly locks the used litter inside. The bag dispenser is a super smart idea, too. My only complaint is that it probably isn’t big enough! Also, the entrance at the ‘neck’ of the container is a little narrow for the provided scoop, which means you need a good aim and a steady hand! But overall, a really worthwhile purchase for anyone with indoor cats.

Surprisingly easy to assemble a new bag!! Just tie a knot at the top of current bag, cut, pull and tie another knot. So simple. Whoever made this thing is a genius!!!! Comes with a scoop that attaches at side which is so convenient. Keeps kitty stink at bay! I love my litter genie! I can keep it close to the litter too so it encourages me to scoop more often than I was when I had to drag my garbage to the litter and back. Very compact. Very well designed. Would recommend!!!!

I’d prefer a diaper pail design to seal in the smell and eliminate the proprietary bags, but I’m pleasantly surprised with the Litter Genie in actual operation. Despite being all plastic, it’s quite durable and a good value at this price point. It’s a minor pain to deal with the bag rolls, but it’s not a complex process. The design does do a decent job of locking in the smells
I’ve already got a couple of heavy duty litter scoops, but the included scoop is quite functional and it’s handy to have one item to carry between boxes. I was concerned that the litter deposits would stick to the plastic in the upper chamber, but this not been my experience. I haven’t noticed any smell emanating from the LG and it seems to be cat approved. I was previously keeping my deposits in old litter pail with kitchen garbage bags, but when I opened it to add new deposits, my litter inspector demonstrated that it needed to be buried.
