Good Idea That Could Use Refinement
The Phistone mobile phone clip for JoyCon looked like a cool little contraption to turn a phone into a “mini Switch” while making the notoriously slim JoyCons more comfortable to use than with the actual Switch. It works, but it could be better.The Magsafe portion of the mount is central to the product’s marketing, and you should remember that — I noticed that the mount also has two side clamps (by each JoyCon slot), so I hoped that I could use it with my Pixel in my “daily-driver” non-Magsafe case, but it does not work well for two reasons: 1-The clamps aren’t very tall, so they work best with a bare phone or slim cases. 2-Even if your phone and case do fit well in the clamps, the mount is your typical, spring-loaded phone mount with JoyCon rails added, and like most such mounts, they are prone to twisting — this means that a non-Magsafe device will work itself free of the clamps as you play.With my Pixel in a slim Magsafe-compatible case, the experience is much improved. The magnets do the bulk of the work while the side clamps simply “assist.” However, if you’re a spirited gamer, you will find the twisting of this mount to be annoying. Using the Switch + JoyCons in handheld mode yields a slight bit of flexing as you play, and this mount offers a magnified version of that. I have not tried this with a tablet, but I don’t see it working well for that at all due to weight distribution combined with the aforementioned flex.This product works as advertised, but it could benefit from taller clamps for those of us that use thicker cases, and the clamping mechanism should be the threaded kind with a thumb screw rather than springs for better stability. I’d still recommend it (for phones only), but I’d wait for a sub-$20 sale.

Decent Phone mount for joycons. Needs refinement, not great for large bulky phones
I have really been looking for a controller/phone mount and was instantly drawn to this one since it also has magsafe features. I use an iPhone 16 Pro Max with a magsafe Popsocket case and I was able to connect the Joycons with no issues. The issue was when I attached my phone with my case and because my phone is too thick from the camera lenses it kept popping out of the clamp and was not flush.I used this to play Honkai Star Rail and it worked fine but again the issue where my phone/case was too thick, kept popping out of the case. I wish this mount would allow for more thickness so it wouldn’t feel like my phone is slipping off. At this point the magnet isn’t really holding on to anything and it’s completely relying on the clamps from the Joycons. Using this vertically/portrait mode will have no issues since the camera lens don’t get in the way. Overall this mount is better off for thinner phones if you plan playing on landscape/horizontal.

Excellent option for iPhones and tablets if you own a Switch
Buying a dedicated controller for a phone or tablet can be costly and unnecessary. I own a Nintendo Switch and several Apple products, including an iPhone 16 Pro and an 11-inch iPad Pro. While I enjoy playing games on both devices, I often find myself without additional gaming controllers. This JoyCon controller holder from Phistone is an excellent solution that allows me to use my existing Nintendo Switch controllers on my phone and tablet.The device is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around. The MagSafe magnet is incredibly strong, ensuring a secure connection when playing games vertically on my phone. If I prefer to rotate my phone horizontally or use my iPad Pro, the controller expands wide enough to accommodate my device comfortably. Soft rubber ends on both sides prevent scratching. The joy-con controller is attached just like it is on the Nintendo Switch, providing a familiar feel.My only minor complaint is that the phone or tablet sticks out quite a bit from the controller handles.If you own a Nintendo Switch and also enjoy playing games on your phone or tablet, I highly recommend the Phistone JoyCon controller.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANDROID, ANDROIDS DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE JOYCONS AS ONE CONTROLLER SO YOU CAN ONLY USE ONE JOYCON AT A TIME,AT LEAST IN FORTNITE, UNSURE HOW THIS WORKS FOR OTHER GAMES OR ON iOS.I should have realized that from the price, but didn’t look too closely, just saw that the color was black and white, white being the controllers pictured, but it was not true.But the device is built very well. Currently using with my Samsung Galaxy S21 FE that is in a case and it fits great. There is a lot more space to fit larger devices, maybe up to 9″ can fit side to side.Joycons fit perfectly on one side, just like going into an actual switch, but the left side as some up and down tolerance issues.

Good, but not too sure of overall quality
The overall function is good. Unfortunately my son couldn’t get used to using it with his fire tablet. His tablet kept moving out of place and it frustrated him. Perhaps it would have worked better with a phone, but he doesn’t have that option.

Echoing the rest of the Android users
I have been looking for a cool gaming setup that I could easily keep in my carry-on personal item luggage. Joy-cons are so small and I have one of those smart flip phones that would be wonderful to play dual screen handheld games on with the right controller setup.The construction of this thing is really nice. Metal reinforcements, pretty decent magsafe magnet, plus the clamping action is pretty nice.Unfortunately thereâs no way to use it the way I intended. When the controllers are paired with the Android OS, they appear as two separate controllers. Unless you have an app that lets you remap controls for two controllers as a single one, youâre out of luck.The best purpose I can imagine for this device is playing a game on the Switch while docked using official or unofficial apps for voice chat on your phone in this grip. If youâre buying it for that or for some other use case that other reviewers have mentioned, itâs pretty nice.
