This book is where your adventures with Bluetooth LE begin. You’ll start your journey by getting familiar with your hardware options: Arduino, BLE modules, computers (including Raspberry Pi!), and mobile phones. From there, you’ll write code and wire circuits to connect off-the-shelf sensors, and even go all the way to writing your own Bluetooth Services. Along the way you’ll look at lightbulbs, locks, and Apple’s iBeacon technology, as well as get an understanding of Bluetooth security–Ã?Âboth how to beat other people’s security, and how to make your hardware secure.

Like New
This book is in very good condition, like new and a fraction of the cost of a new one.

I like the book a lot
I like the book a lot, it was really helpful and I keep it to refer to it when I’m starting some new project in an area new to me.

Good.
Decent projects, wish there was more R-PI projects though.

Fun times
Fun projects with straight forward explainations and directions. After working through the material I have a good understanding of the concepts covered.

Half a book
Agree with the review by “aw”.Each project in the book starts with the hardware/micro-controller code portion, you buy the hardware then build the circuit. Next step is to use an an app called “LightBlue” (available from the Apple app store) to test everything and to see it work. LightBlue however is not a particularly user friendly interface. Final step is to use an app called PhoneGap to create something a lot more polished in terms of a UI.Unfortunately you no longer have access to PhoneGap thru the Apple app store. PhoneGap is available for iOS if you register as an Apple Developer and pay a $99 annual fee. I wrote the publisher of the book over a week ago looking for some information about all this and they haven’t responded…I guess that’s my answer. So the book is useful if you want to get started with BLE and try a few projects. Not at all useful if you want to follow-through to the conclusion of each project in creating a working UI. So $20 for the book, a hundred bucks or so for all the hardware (things you can keep for other projects though) and another hundred bucks to Apple for the privilege of making that $1,000 phone you bought from them a little more useful.

A bit out of date, considering the Raspberry Pi 3 now has Bluetooth built in.

Wer sich in das Thema Bluetooth LE einarbeiten muss oder will, sollte dieses Buch auf jeden Fall gelesen haben.Genug Theorie, aber auch ganz viel Praxis.
