Customers say

Customers find these clamps work great, particularly noting they’re better than metal ones, and appreciate how they make changing plates a breeze. The clamps hold weights securely and are easy to slide on and off, with one customer mentioning they’re super fast for changing weights. They are durable with a tough plastic construction, and customers like their design, with one describing them as cool-looking functional gear. While customers find them well worth the cost, opinions on value are mixed.

    fast, simple and durable
I’ve used these since I started with freeweights years ago. I recently moved for college and accidentally left mine in storage, so I had to order another pair to go with the bar I purchased locally. I tried to make do with those cheap metal spring clamps, but got annoyed with them after about one set.I had used the same pair of them for years and they worked just as good as when I got them. They slide on and lock easily, and don’t scratch up your bar like the metal kind do. They are made out of some kind of tough plastic, but have little rubber pads on the inside that press against the bar when in the locked position. As with any bar clamp, do not take the process of securing the weights lightly. I always visually check the clamps immediately before lifting, because when you get in a routine you sometimes forget details. Gravity does not forget.

    pretty good
I like how fast and easy they slide on and off. These hold a lot of weight as advertised but there is some slippage each time the weight butts up against them. They seem great on a barbell, but I don’t trust them on the dumbells I was hoping to use them on. They’re just not quite tight enough for me to be comfortable underneath them.

    Nice and Easy
So I bought these mainly because I kept leaving my spring collars in the gym where I work and wanted a spare pair. Yes, I’m lazy. They slide on pretty quickly and lock in well. I noticed a slight slip when I practiced my snatch, but that was probably mainly because I messed up the catch. Still, slipping is slipping. Not too crazy about the price, but they’ve certainly made my life easier.

    Overpriced Junk
These slip all over the place and their use is limited to things like light benching/squatting. For what I paid I expected more.

    Excellent
These work great on my bars. They have a solid “composity” feel to the plastic. The swing arm is nice and smooth with just enough resistance. The inside of the circle has rubber to prevent it from sliding, but it’s still easy to move it on the bar without the arm enganged.Edit: after a few years of home use these clamps have held up great. I can see no signs of wear. I’m often careless about setting them down after I take them off and I occasionally drop them onto a weight on the floor. So far they haven’t broken even with my abuse. I recall the gym I used to go to had these same clamps, so I guess they’re made to take some serious abuse without breaking. I’d certainly buy them again or recommend them to a friend.

    Great for slow lifts!
At the time of writing this review, I have owned these clamps for a little over a year. I use these clamps for bench, press, squat, and deadlift! Please note that I own a power rack, so if you’re benching without a rack or spotter arms, then you probably don’t want to use clamps as I do. For me, if I can’t lift something I just lay it down on my spotters. The benefit of the clamp on my lifts is simply to keep the weights from sliding or shifting. On squat, sometimes one side can dip lower than the other walking out the weight, and that’s where these come in handy. These are the quickest and easiest clamps I have ever used. Nice features include rubber on the inside to make contact smooth with the bar. I’ve read that these perform poorly on Olympic lifts where weight is being dropped, but I don’t do any of those kinds of lifts. I do good old fashioned powerlifts. I’ve tried springs and Rogue HG clamps. The HG clamps are also good, but aren’t as fast and easy. I’d say the HG would be more suitable for Olympic lifting.

did what I needed but why so expensive I wonder??
I made a mistake and bought weights that had those unbelievably difficult clips that were NOT easy to take off during transition from one exercise to another. So, I bought these. They did the trick..although, not the perfect fit I would have liked and I still had to, from time to time, re clamp them for tightness. For the price? I dunno. If I had it to do all over again, I would NOT buy weights with those type of “clips” so then in turn, I’d be forced to buy these.

Best combination of clamping, ease-of-use, and durability
We power and Olympic lift using a medium-grade barbell and rubber bumper plates. Our setup has three clamp sets: standard spring, Muscle Clamp, and HG collars, and these offer the best combination of ease-of-use, durability, and clamping strength. In high volume environments, such as our local gym, Muscle Clamps have stood up to repeated use and abuse. While on the pricy side, the product is well worth the cost. For better locking strength, the screw-type clamps used by Olympic lifters is the way to go. For a cheaper option, spring clamps work. But for my purposes, Muscle Clamps are the right solution for my setup.
