The Supplemental Nursing System (SNS) is a lactation aid that consists of a container filled with supplementary milk that is clipped securely to a bra strap, shirt or pillow. While the baby is latched at the breast or chest, a thin, flexible tube is placed alongside the nipple into the baby’s mouth and a controlled and consistent flow of milk is released as they feed. This innovative system helps with breastfeeding challenges, low milk supply, relactation, and helps non-gestational, trans and non-binary parents to breastfeed or chestfeed. The SNS is designed for home use as long as is necessary.
Medela’s Supplemental Nursing System (SNS) can be used by mothers and parents who want to feed at the breast or chest when they have low or no milk supply. It can also be used for babies needing extra support to maintain sucking over a full feed
SKIN-TO-SKIN BONDING: Supports the breastfeeding or chestfeeding experience and facilitates bonding and skin-to-skin contact between the mother, parent and baby, helping to calm and comfort
ADVANCED SYSTEM: Medela’s newly designed SNS includes a thin tube with rounded edges to gently deliver milk to baby. The advanced venting system ensures consistent milk flow and the unique TwistLok connector protects against leakage and milk loss
EASY TO USE: The standard 150ml Medela container and lid makes milk preparation, storage, transport and feeding easy. Securely clip the SNS to a nursing bra, shirt or pillow and use the simple ‘on off’ control to stop and start the milk flow
EASY TO CLEAN AND REUSABLE: Includes a specialty cleaning aid for the tube to make cleaning easy. Reusable device designed for long term use
Customers say
Customers are satisfied with the brand and breastfeeding. However, some report issues with sturdiness, leakage, and fragile parts that break easily. They also dislike the assembly quality. Opinions vary on functionality, ease of use, and value for money.

Very creative design
This system is very well designed, I also appreciate they give you a syringe to clean the tubing. The clamp to slow milk is very helpful and the clip to hold the bottle can easily connect to your shirt or bra.The only thing I wish is that they would include replacement tubing or at least sell replacement tubing. The tube will eventually break down and then you have to buy the entire product again just to get another tube.

Breaks easily
We have gotten this product twice and thought the first time it was user error that it cracked, but the piece that attaches the tubing to the bottle develops a crack quickly, and then begins to leak and not work. We are very frustrated that we spent the money we did twice and the same thing happened. We used the item less than 20 times.

It works, but it’s fragile
This system does the job. However, the the yellow part of the twist lock tubing cracked and milk leaks everywhere. The worst part is that you can’t replace the twist lock tubing.

Life savor for my preemie and myself!
My preemie wouldn’t latch right away to a bare breast and I was sure that was the route that was best. As my milk was coming in I was able to supplement donor milk as if it were coming from my breast so we could still stick to EBF. It worked like a charm with a nipple guard!Cleaning isn’t the most simple due to little parts. The cost for my end goal was more than reasonable. Once you got the hang of where the tube went comfortably, it was easy to use.

Over priced and defective
As a new mother struggling with her milk supply I was recommended to buy this device per my lactation consultant. Not only is this ridiculously over priced, poor design, and poor quality–taking advantage of people who need to supplement with formula. It leaks all the time and it also got a hole in the line within the first two weeks of using it. The line is also very short compared to their one time use SNS. I expected more from the brand medela.

Expensive but easy in use
Easy to use. Easy to clean. Not leaking. The bottle can be used separately. I put 4 starts only because it pricey

Disappointed
I used the starter kit 3 years ago with my first child and it went well. This one was very difficult to use. Hard to get it to drain down the tube. Spills if you squeeze gently to help the milk drain down. Iâm upset and I feel like I wasted my money. So disappointed as it went well 3 years ago with the SNS System.

Worked like a miracle
My baby had spent her first week in the NICU and got used to bottle. She wouldnât latch on my breast and I was totally hopeless about breastfeeding her. This product worked like a miracle and helped my baby develop skill of latching on nipples and at the same time stimulate milk production through her suction. I highly recommend this product!Update:I should add that I just used the syringe and the bottle didnât seem to be doing what it was supposed to do. Still I believe that this product helped with keeping the baby on breast, but perhaps it was not as helpful with them fully develop latching skills.

It has helped our preterm baby to train and improve suction. At the moment it is a two-person job with every feed. I recommend using medical tape to hold in place the tube while feeding.

No sobrevivió a la semana de uso y se rompió la rosca que conecta la botella con la sonda. Evidentemente, la solución es evitar este producto y adquirir alguno de mejor calidad

I’m definitely not a fan of this product for the price. It leaks really easily, the cap doesn’t screw on easily to the bottle in a way where it doesn’t leak. It cross threads so easy but you can’t tell until you flip it upside down and it starts running all over the place. It’s devastating when that’s your hard-earned and pumped breast milk. The clip doesn’t hold securely to your clothes and falls off easily if pulled by the baby. The only thing I liked is how the syringe attaches to the feeding tube for ease of clean.

Cómo lo vi en varias de las opiniones , una de las piezas se rompe muy fácilmente , solo me duró una semana . No venden esa pieza por separado , es mejor comprar otra marca .

The sns is useful for sure and effective in what it does; however, the “clip” is useless and barely holds onto anything without falling off, especially with anything more than 1oz in the bottle. For a bottle, vent lid and flow restrictor, clip, tube, and ring, the price is kind of crazy. I might have purchased an alternative (just a tube and flow restriction system) had I known this before.Edit: after writing this, the Anti-leak TwistLok Lid got a crack in it and it now leaks all over me when I try to use it. Not great for only 2 weeks of use!Second edit: I contacted customer service and they were fabulous in assisting me. They’re sending a replacement, so hopefully it will work better. Not sure if I’d buy this exact product again but I’d certainly deal with the company again in future.
