    GREAT BABY MONITOR!
I need to preface this review by telling you that we started out with a very fancy wifi-video monitor. It worked great! And still does! But eventually, we realized that it was eating up our monthly data allowance quickly. And that unless you sit there staring at the monitor, you really just go on sound anyways. So at night, I would leave it running in the background of my phone, and only take a look at the monitor when I heard any type of sound, see that he was fine, and go back to sleep. But we all know how NOT conducive it is to a good night’s sleep if you’re looking at your phone or a baby monitor. So we decided to downgrade, and it was the best thing we did. This little set was dirt cheap, but ridiculously effective. There’s no static-white noise sound at all, just silence. You plug one in anywhere in the room (closest outlet to the crib), and the other one somewhere in the room you’re in. It’s that easy. It’s very sensitive, as I will hear my little guy in there just talking to himself. But if he actually starts to cry, it’s loud and clear. You can hear other movements in the room too, (for example, when my husband goes in to change his diaper, I can hear every sound). The price point on these is great, they work spectacularly, they are very easy to transport (we took ours on vacation with us this summer), require no wifi, internet, or complicated setup. A magnificent product that is worth every penny it costs.

    Great portable monitor!
We used this for our travels, worked great and super easy to set up! We used it in my parents basement, a few nights our baby was sleeping in a separate room across the house, and several nights we had him sleeping in another room upstairs while we stayed in basement and no issues! Highly recommend!

Does exactly what I need it to-stopped working well
After reading a lot of ba reviews I took a chance on this set because I didn’t want to spend an astronomical amount of money just to be able to hear my baby down the hall if I could spend less. This has worked wonderfully for me!I have the monitor plugged in next to my tv and about 15-20 ft away from where the baby sleeps. When the tv is on at a normal volume (so as long as it isn’t really loud) I can not hear it at all through the monitor but I can hear the baby complaining. I don’t know how that happens but it does.A feature that I really like is the lights on the top of the receiver that go off when there is a loud noise/baby is crying. That really helps when there is loud company over or the blender is running.Update:Item stopped working consistently soon after writing my review. It still works some of the time but there is no way to tell when it isn’t working except that I go to the bedroom and my baby is crying but nothing was coming through the monitor.

    Good spare monitor
We have the regular corded Motorola monitors that we use for everyday in the nursery, but whenever our babies spend the night at the grandparents (who don’t have their own monitor) or we go on vacation, we have to bring along both units with their bulky cords and then have to twist and stretch to replug them back in when we got back home. Since we have purchased these, we no longer need to do that, and since they are cordless, they more easily pack in the suitcase or diaper bag and no worries of a tangled cord. So far the sound quality seems pretty good and we have had no problems with then, though we don’t use them often since they are our spare set. For the price, they are definitely a nice extra.

    Pleased with purchase
This monitor is little different in that it has to be plugged in (no battery.) I am using this for my 4 1/2 year old who sleeps on the other side of the house so we can hear him at night. It is extremely quiet in that it doesn’t make a sound unless he is talking, etc. We hear him well if he does need us. This replaces our old Sony Babycall. It is not very portable (you can’t just take it around the house). If I had a new baby that took a lot of naps and I wanted to take it around with me, it might not be the best. I just plug it into my open kitchen before we go to bed, then move it to an extension cord plug in my bedroom at night. Perfect for our purposes and very inexpensive! My 1 year old has the Summer Infant Baby Wave Digital Audio Monitor. It is much more portable and clear as well. This would be my inexpensive, yet effective choice for a new baby.My six year old, who sleeps farthest from us, has the VTech Communications Safe and Sound Digital Audio Baby Monitor (this replaced his Sony Babycall from when he was born.) This one I do not recommend. It works just fine and is clear. However, it doesn’t have a rechargeable battery to charge when you plug it in. You have to use other batteries. We just leave this plugged in in our bedroom and turn on at night. This works fine for a six year old we only need to hear at night if he needs us, but would be very annoying if we needed it during the day.

    Perfect!
This is a great little monitor for the price. Definitely no frills, but who needs $100 worth of features to hear if your kid is awake? I especially like that there’s no cord to mess with and it easily blends in rather than taking up space on a shelf. The sound is crystal clear and there’s no ambient sound when there isn’t noise in the room.Only downside I’ve found after several weeks, is that the lowest volume is still pretty loud. Probably ok for most people, but when using it for my older boys (3 and 6) I don’t need to hear every little noise, just weather they’re involved in bedtime tom foolery. I guess too, if you are one to take the monitor outside and around the yard to listen to your kids this wouldn’t work for you, but it’s great if you don’t need to move it beyond the house.

I bought this monitor to hear my elderly relative I am caring for at night and it works a treat. I have the monitor unit plugged in next to the bed and the speaker unit in my bedside plug and can hear almost every noise. I have it on the highest volume in order to wake me up and it is very loud. No need to worry about not waking.I have only given four stars for sound quality because the sound is a little tinny – but I am not sure if it is because the monitor unit is in a big room with little furniture and there is a bit of an echo or if it is the speaker itself. But it serves its purpose very well so I am unconcerned about the tinny sound. It is so easy to use. It is just plug it in and press the power button. And if you unplug it without turning it off then when you plug it back in it turns itself on. And the good thing about having to plug it into mains is that it can never run out of battery! Though if you live in an area prone to power cuts then perhaps you should consider battery operated. It also depends how you plan to use it on whether you need a speaker unit to carry with you or one you plug into the wall. For me this works great and I know I would hear it even in another room as long as the telly isn’t on. So I don’t consider it a necessity to be able to carry it around with me.The microphone doesn’t have much range though, but can pick up sounds from father away if they are loud enough. Something to bear in mind if you are using it for something other than a cot or bed. In terms of the range between the two units I am very impressed. I am quite far away around the corridor and have never struggled to pick up signal like some other reviewers. But perhaps if it was plugged in downstairs then I would struggle.Overall I would highly recommend this monitor. It does exactly what it says it does and works great. And it is one of the cheapest on the market so is great value for money. As a carer I wouldn’t live without it now.

We live in an apartment therefore we didnt want to spend so much on an expensive monitor however it was needed as once our baby was asleep in her cot and we moved to the living room, we couldnt hear anything- good sound proofing- but this made us anxious and we kept getting up every to minutes to check on her.I looked on amazon for a cheap but realiable monitor. This motorola monitor seemed like the perfect solution. No frills i.e. video or 2 way speaker just a simple plug in. The reviews suggested it was good for our circumstances. The product arrived packaged well, it came in the motorola box. Upon opening it was two plug in sets, and a manual. It seemed quite basic. One set was for baby room – the one without volume buttons- and the other was for the room you are in. You just plug both in and turn on. I found the sound to be very clear and the lights come on to indicate the level of sound.Overall i liked this and it completely suited my needs.

Now with 2 babies in diapers you can’t just have one monitor, so it came time for a second unit.We already had a safety 1st set with 2 parent units that have the sound view lights that are analog 40mhz(ish), they were very staticy and suffered from interference even in a rural area. This Motorola digital monitor uses DECT technology, just like my cordless phone. What this means for you is that nobody can eavesdrop on your monitors clearly broadcast radio transmissions. It doesn’t interfere with WiFi.It also means that this monitor doesn’t blast out random noises. It has an excellent noise filter that doesn’t mute but reduces the child’s rooms ambient noise so you can actually hear your baby, not the fan in their room.It has a night light built into the nursery unit, which emits a soft orange glow that doesn’t distrupt your night vision. The parent unit also has lights similar to other brands, a semi circle of lights that progress from green to red indicate the volume of the child’s room even if you have the sounds muted. There is no wires, the base and parent unit simply plug directly into any power outlet, they also cannot run on batteries.I like this because if you really want a wire, you can use a thin extension cord otherwise is a very clean looking non childish looking unit.*edit* this set was broken by November. The units just could no longer connect. The company that actually made this was not Motorola, but some other company that wants you to ship this device back at your own expense, with no guarantees you’ll get your unit back or anything at all.
