Better than others Iâve tried – EDITED
Update: so after using the mute nasal dilator for over almost 2 months now, I have some issues with it. You know how when you constantly rub something, it starts to form a type of callus? Well thatâs happening inside my right nostril. Itâs becoming so bad that now the right nostril is clogged during the day. So now Iâm using two different types of dilators one for one week, the mute for the next week, then back to the other for a week, etc and so on. So nothing is perfect but I cannot use cpap any longer. It causes me less sleep and more problems than it solves. Im kind of stuck? Not sure what to do now, but just wanted to put this out there. No dilator is great at this stage. Donât like the nasal strips because they do not stay on and donât open my nose enough. So thereâs my update! So this is an honest review. Iâm not paid, Iâm not getting any compensation; Iâm just hoping to help someone else. I bought the trial pack for Mute and quickly figured out that the medium was for me. I wore it a while and Iâll be honest (again!) I felt like it bothered me. UNTIL I tried another brand of nasal dilator and oh my word! I wore the other brand for a week just to give it a fair shot and had blisters in my nose that scabbed over during the daytime. I went back to Mute and it was heaven compared to the other brand. Now having said that: the Mute dilator is not completely comfortable to where you donât know itâs there BUT it does not cause bleeding or sores and weirdly enough when I went back to it? It seemed to work far better than the other brand that claimed to open passages â58% more.âSo the night I went back to Mute? I slept 8 hrs 26 mins and woke up feeling great. The week prior with the other brand? I barely slept 5 without ripping the thing out and having a blocked left nasal passage for the rest of the night. So! Thatâs my honest review. In total I have tried 5 different nasal dilators and out of all of them? Iâm sticking with the Mute medium nasal dilator. Itâs a pain to put in, itâs a pain to get where your nose wants it to be, BUT itâs the only one so far that Iâve found that keeps my nasal passages open and lets me sleep without a clogged left nasal passage without pain and bleeding. Iâve had sinus surgery and it made things worse after so thatâs not an option. The only thing I wish is that they made a variety of each size; such as extra small, small, larger small, small medium, medium, larger medium etc and so on. That way those clips wouldnât be on there and it would be more comfortable. Hope this helps someone!

I lost the small and medium within 48 hours
I bought these to help reduce snoring. They donât really do a whole lot when I wake up and theyâre gone. The small was the right length for my nose, but the loops increased to the max size were not enough to keep my nostrils open. The medium was too long and hurt, but was wide enough to keep my nostrils open. These are maybe not designed for wide noses? Iâm not sure. I have a Filipino nose if that helps you at all and they were not a vibe. Also, I have a septum piercing and it was a little weird to maneuver both into place, but I didnât feel like the piercing prevented the thingies from doing their job. They did that on their own.First night with the small went alright. They didnât bother me much. But I woke up and that sucker was gone. No clue where it went because itâs clear and Iâm never going to find it. Iâm not sure if they fell out because the loops werenât wide enough or if I ripped them out during my sleep because they were irritating. Second night I tried the medium. The loops were enough to hold my nostrils open, but pushed up all the way would hit a sensitive spot on the inner sides of my nostrils and that wasnât pleasant. Again, I woke up and they were gone. Also no clue where they went. I stripped the bed and both have just disappeared.Wouldnât bother again with them clearly they arenât for me. Kinda annoyed they cost me $17. Anyone need a single large? Meh

Softer than Turbine but same discomfort after some time
I was hoping that this product would be an improvement from the more rigid feeling of the Turbine dilator, which had started to cause significant pain, irritation and bleeding on my septum where it sat. I bought the small size, which had been my fit on the Turbine (bought the multi-size pack earlier to test this) and the first week was amazing. The Mute is much softer in consistency to the point where it is a bit more difficult to place since it doesn’t slide into the nasal passage as easily due to being more flaccid, but it was initially much more comfortable. My individual size requirements didn’t necessitate enlarging the stents. Being able to breathe through my nose at night made my sleep so much better–can’t comment as to the anti-snore aspect unfortunately (no one around to give feedback). However, after about a week of use the familiar irritation began again: at this point almost 2 weeks after re-starting use with the Mute since discontinuing the Turbine and allowing for healing, I am back to the inability to wear this without pain and bleeding upon removal. Again, the stents are not enlarged at all so there is no extra pressure on my nasal septum apart from that which the product applies by virtue of shape alone. The idea is excellent, initial use was incredibly comfortable and vastly improved my sleep quality, and it seems to work beautifully until placement is simply impossible due to the pain aspect. Whether that is simply the shape of my nose or the product itself is up in the air, but I will continue to experiment with different designs from other companies to find what works best for me.

One tip for potential buyers… Buy the Trial pack first to understand your nose size. CONTEXT I’m 6ft 3in and Im a Medium size

I bought the starter pack as I wasnât sure what size my nostrils would be. I have a deviated septum and very often I canât breathe through my nose properly and Iâve became used to this over the years. However my snoring at night has caused issues with my wife and I with her losing sleep over it for years now and itâs caused me to need to sleep on the couch multiple times. First time using them and my life has improved for several reason! I can breathe properly again as normal, I donât snore at night nearly half as much as is used to, I sleep most of the night and wake up feeling more refreshed and energetic and itâs improved the sleep quality for my wife. She even tried the size medium and she had great results too but thought that she would need the small size, so Iâve just bought the 3 pack of small ones for us both to use going forward. I sleep with it in every night now for the last 2-3 weeks and I feel the downside if I fall asleep without putting it in.They can be ever so slightly uncomfortable, but are by no means invasive or too hard. The only time that you may feel pain is in the morning after wearing them all night, but once you take them out in the morning it just goes back to normal and you can carry on with your day. Iâm so glad I found these and they are so worth the money for the increase in quality of life.
