Herbal Antibiotics
OK, first of all⦠now I need to buy a hard copy of this book to keep on my personal shelf because this is probably the most helpful/useful herbal remedy book I have seen. This book is excellent! I have reviewed many herbal remedy/alternative medicine books. Most of them are OK at best for beginners. But they somehow missed the mark. This, this is the book to buy! Very well done, very clear instructions, and wide range of herbs to use. Iâm pretty experienced at alternative medicine I have been using it myself and making my own remedies for about 30 years. I had no arguments with anything in this book. One thing I love about this book is that it gives you exact directions and how to make healing teas, infusions, decoctions, and tinctures. After each herb he tells you exactly how to make either a tea or a tincture etc. When you buy a healing tea in a grocery store the directions on the box usually say to steep it for 2 to 5 minutes – WRONG! Iâm sorry, but this is just wrong. You need to step it a lot longer than that. About 15 to 20 minutes to get all the healing properties out of the leaves, as this book says. So, thank you for getting it right! He also gives you directions on how to make a syrup. Basically this is a decoction with added sugar. Personally, for my own use I would never add the sugar, I just donât think my body needs the extra sugar and Iâm fine with the taste. But if you were going to give this âmedicineâ to children (or my husband) lol You may need to add the sugar and make a syrup.I took a couple of classes years ago on how to make Healing tea, decoctionâs, infusions, and tinctures. Of all my years of schooling this class was the single most useful and best class Iâve ever taken. If you are interested in Alternative medicine/herbal medicine, I highly recommend you find somewhere that is doing a class, besides buying this book! Some of the herbs used in this book are In your kitchen. Like garlic sage rosemary. But some of these may not be easily obtained from your local store, or in your backyard LOL (although some of them are!) but all of these can be pretty easily obtained via the Internet, thank God for that these days. But before you just blindly by herbs off the Internet⦠Please make sure that this is a reputable company, that all of the herbs are 100% guaranteed organic. Check the reviews! You donât want to be buying herbs for medicine that are laden with chemical or hormones etc. so just do your homework first. And if you have a local health store they could probably help you get what you need.Another thing that I love about this book⦠Is that he backs it up with some science, because we all need a little scientific proof, right? So he gives you the science behind the healing properties. The âwhy this worksâ.And example of one of the herbs in this book is elderberry. There is a huge section on elderberries! I know most of you have probably heard of elderberry syrup and the healing properties for colds and flu. But did you know that you could make elderberry gummy bears?! What a great way to get kids to use this. This book also gives you the correct dose to use for different ages. So for the elderberry gummyâs children under five you would only want to give them two instead of four.I know this review is very lengthy, but I always tell people the longer the review the better the book was! Bottom line is⦠This book is very thorough. Itâs got great easy to follow directions on how to make herbal remedies using each of the herbs. If you are looking up for a very detailed but easy to understand and easy to follow book on how to make your own remedies – this is definitely the one! In my opinion this book is easy enough for a beginner, but even experienced herbalists like myself would definitely benefit from this. I am going to buy a hard copy of this for my own shelf and maybe also buy a copy for my daughter! I recommend you do the same.I voluntarily posted this review after receiving a copy of this book from the author – Richard Bray – Thank You!!

A comprehensive introduction to herbal healing with plenty of recipes
The book is a good introduction to herbal remedies. Not only does it cover the various forms in which herbs can be turned into remedies, but it also provides a basic guide to the immune response to explain what healing means for the various remedies. The third chapter starts the critical part of the book, a listing of various herbal stimulants, such as garlic, honeysuckle and myrrh. Then come chapters on modulating the immune systems, tonics for boosting the immune response (using one of my favorites â elderberry), and then how to incorporate some of the usual kitchen herbs such as mint in your food with explanations what their effect is on the immune response. Chapter 7 covers a number of diseases and explains what herbs can be helpful to treat them. Diseases covered include anything from cold to Alzheimerâs to migraines and high blood pressure. There is a nice write up on licorice, explaining what it can help with, but also (and thankfully) warning about the dangers of taking too much licorice and what problems that can cause. For elderberry, the book does not list wine, but a recipe for gin, something which I plan to do later on this year when I can harvest fresh elderberries. The recipes also include elderberry syrup and elderberry cordial. Overall, the book does provide a good introduction to using herbs for medicinal purposes and also explains which herbs can be helpful for which ailment. I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in a more natural approach to healing.I received a free copy of the book from the publisher.

Some good information for people who want to learn about herbs and their properties
Being from America, I could see that this book was written with British spelling (mould instead of mold) so I realized there could be some things that I would not be familiar with do to the origin of the writer. One of the things that I look for when I read informative books is how they are referenced. While this book does contain several references, it is not formatted so that you can refer to them very easily – what part of the book attaches to which reference in the back of the book. There needs to be numbers attached to the references to make it easier to go to.One of the charts in the book – Deaths from Drug Resistance has a dat of 2055. I don’t understand that at all. I don’t know if the author mistyped the date or if it s future chart of estimation. He doesn’t state that this is a projection, so I don’t know what value that adds. There are some location specific terms that the author uses – Top Up on page 28; not certain what he means, and lashing of olive oil on page 42, once again, not familiar with that terminology. This book has lots of drawings/pictures of herbs are those are very beneficial for those who are not familiar with specific herb. There are some nice recipes of how to use herbs and although not comprehensive in it’s form, it still has some good information for anyone who wishes to know more aobut antibiotic properties of herbs.
