Great tool for my daughter with dyslexia, and save time, easy to use…
It is not perfect, but the overall performance is excellent in my opinion, and I am very satisfied with this purchase. So far, super happy I’ve chosen SVANTTO this brand.Pros-Text to speechI purchase this reader pen for my daughter with dyslexia to help her to read. For my daughter, dyslexia just made it harder to read. It takes my daughter to read a little longer time than normal and also requires a few rereads. The most useful feature for my daughter is text to speech. It can scan words or sentences at once and read the text back to you after scanning which is helpful for my daughter to understand the contents of the book quickly and improve her reading efficiency. It boosted her reading level and confidence so much after I purchased this pen scanner for her. I noticed that it seems to scan best when my daughter tries to be smooth and scan faster or slower. When you get the technique down, it really does a nice job recognizing the correct letters. If you don’t like the line you just scanned, with the sightly touch of the scan window it would allow you to delete it and scan again. As of right now, it is not a pain in the butt to delete the whole line.it just takes way 1 s.-Saving timeIn fact, I will use this pen for my note-taking when my daughter doesn’t need to read. SVANTTO has really helped me with my note-taking for books when reading, making note-taking much easier. I like to capture ideas to note later and also to share with others. It is definitely saving time. It’s sometimes hard to remember exactly where I read something and after a week or two the multitude of tabs in my books isn’t all that helpful. With the SVANTTO I can quickly scan important passages into my phone(Samsung) or computer(Mac) making all of my reading much more searchable. It works perfectly. You only need to open your phone and then use the camera to scan the QR code or enter the IP on your computer.-Great customer serviceI filed a request for assistance on their web page and they got back to me within 24 hours. We set up a phone appointment, and later a few minutes they corrected the problem, and I’ve had zero difficulties since. Of course, you also can choose WhatsApp, skype, or email the SVANTTO support team…Cons-There is a limit to how big of font it will scan.-It does miss a few words but for the most part, it reads every word correctly. I hope this helps your decision.

Updated review: Device Replaced, Great service
The product started out good, my 9 year old learned to use it pretty effectively, it was helping him at school a lot. But one day it just stopped working. I reached out to try to get some tips on troubleshooting the device, and the company asked if I wanted a replacement. Great service!

Do not buy!
Bought this for my 20 year old special needs daughter. It is very hard to set up and I have a Masters Degree. Once I had it set up it does not read a line as it describes. It also doesnât have accurate vocabulary for English. We sent it back, but keep looking for a better one.

Very useful but not intuitive
Father of 5 kids and Special Education teacher. This pen is defiantly a “open the box and use” reader. The scan option allows the reader to scan a book, text, and even hand writing. It is about 80-90% accurate when I scan certain words. I have taught a lot of my kids to use the reader to help with SOME of the words and not use the reader to scan the whole book. The headphones option allows them to read silently with disrupting a quiet classroom. The reason I gave it 4 star is because the translator and the voice reader has yet to work properly. I would like to use this device for language’s other than English or Chinese. Its a great product but it takes a lot of manipulation to use ALL of the options.

Helped 8 year old
I bought this to help my 8 year old who is unschooled read independently. Heâs decided he wants to learn to read so I have Incorporated this into our set of tools for him to learn. Itâs about 80 to 95% accurate, the better you scan the words the better it works of course. It doesnât work on some kinds of font in childrenâs books but you are basic computer font it works phenomenal. If the title on the page were booked title is bigger than a regular font it will not read that because the reader only reads smaller print. Which is to be expected. We only use the scanning feature, however there is a translating feature on there that we havenât really messed with, and thereâs some thing where you take a picture and it supposed to translate but we canât get it to work or maybe weâre doing it wrong. But for the reason we bought it it is working great. My son scans his fry list words with it so he can read his words independently, he also reads some books independently with it. I wouldnât recommend it for a kid younger than approximately ate unless they have great fine motor skills, because they do have to scan it fairly steady and fluently for it to register clearly. Sometimes my son hast to scan it a few times for it to get it accurately. Just a sidenote for other parents trying to look for tools to help their kids read. I also turned on the accessibility on his cell phone, so he can Google anything he would like and actually have the information read to him. Under accessibility in the settings of the phone you turn on the, touch to speak section, so any text he highlights it will read it back to him. Thereâs also an app called Epic for kids that has books that they can read, but it also has some books that are read out loud to them, it also can I have the books be downloaded so when theyâre off-line. This is the only reason I have my 8 year old have a phone because itâs like a little library that he can take anywhere. Also for anyone wanting a good screen monitoring app for kids phones. Screen time is great! You can set up bedtimes, school times, daily limits, set up tasks they can send to receive phone time and even for an extra fee see ALL messages going in and out of the phone on all apps and all pictures, great for teens too!

Looks and feels like a quality product. Great fit my daughter wgo has dyslexia. Would prefer if the manufacturer built-in speech-to-text option and dropped the multilingual functionality, making it more useful for people with specific learning difficulties.

Ordered for my 12 year old with dyslexia. This is allowing him independence in reading as he now has the confidence to attempt reading longer lengths on his own. Occasionally the voice pronounces the word differently then we would, but I actually consider that a good thing because he will pause and think on the word she said and I can see him try to manipulate the sound to make it fit. Very pleased with it, also was happy to realize health acct insurance covered it. Parents should look into their plan.
