Smartest litter box out there
As a long-time Petkit fan, Iâve owned almost every generation of their productsâfrom their 1st gen feeder and water fountains to two Puraxes and a 1st gen Pura Max. So, when I saw the latest AI-powered Purabot, I was immediately intrigued, especially by its AI features. I decided to give it a try, and after a week of using, Iâm ready to share my thoughts.The box was impressively large, and the packaging was super secureâno complaints there. Inside, the device was neatly arranged with minimal parts. The camera arm came separately and needed to be screwed onto the main unit (screws were included). The instructions were clear, and setup was a breeze. Connecting to Wi-Fi and adding the Purabot to the Petkit app was straightforward, and the deviceâs voice guide (with a very BBC-like female voice, lol) made the process even smoother.One of the first things I noticed was how well the odor eliminator works. Combined with the sealed litter tray and compartment, it virtually eliminates all litter odorâthough I should note I use tofu litter, which is already low-odor. The magnetic lid on the back trunk is a nice touch too, adding to the overall sleek and functional design.I waited a week to write this review because I wanted to see how my two picky cats would react. Both of them have a habit of peeing near the litter box instead of inside it sometimes, so I was curious. To my surprise, there were zero accidents during the week. They started using the Purabot almost immediately after installation, which was a huge win in my book.The AI facial recognition feature was something I was initially skeptical about. To set it up, I uploaded several clear headshots and body shots of my cats. Surprisingly, it works really well! The app provides highlights of my cats doing their business, as well as the full, unedited version (which is kind of hilariousâI wonder what theyâd say if they could talk!). However, I did notice that the facial recognition only works when my cats are actually using the litter box, not when they are just passing by (which serves its purpose).Another standout feature is the Waste Covering function. Before the cleaning cycle starts, it evenly covers the waste, which helps keep the inside walls of the cylinder clean. Itâs a small detail, but it makes a big difference in maintenance.When the litter tray was full, the app notified me, and the device automatically sealed the dirty litter bag as the ring raised up. Removing the bag was easy, and once the ring lowered, a new bag was blown open and expanded to fit the tray. The whole process was seamless, and the BBC-like voice guided me through each step. Itâs such a smart and satisfying system!There are still a few features I havenât fully tried yet, so Iâll provide an updated review later. But after a week of use, Iâm thoroughly impressed. The Purabot is by far the most advanced and intelligent litter box Iâve ever owned. Itâs packed with thoughtful features that make life easier for both me and my cats.

Worth the upgrade!
After setting this new box up for my kitties, they immediately took interest to it. However, it wasn’t until a week later, did they finally actually use the box. I have the PuraMax and they were used to it, but because this one has a front attachment for the camera, they were unsure of it at first.First thing, this box is huge. It’s way bigger than the PuraMax, so make sure you measure and make space for it. I love the new AI camera monitoring feature as I have 3 cats and this gives me a peace of mind knowing I can monitor them more closely. The app is also really good at differentiating each cat’s usage. There are so many different settings on the app to really customize your experience.The Purobot is definitely a huge upgrade from the previous models. The one thing that concerned me before was the way the drum rotates. This one rotates sideways so there are no closing doors or anything that can potential harm my cats. There’s also a “kitten” mode in the app settings in case you have kittens to protect their safety.The new odor control is an added bonus. I clean their boxes frequently so this was never an issue to begin with. The completely sealed door where the waste goes is totally sealed when not in use so it really does eliminate any odors. Another added bonus is the heat sealed waste bag when you need to dump the waste.There’s two different attachments that come with this unit depending on what type of litter you use. I use Dr Elsey’s litter and didn’t have to switch litters which made this transition easier. This also has the option to use tofu litter, you’ll just use a different sifter for the drum.There is an optional monthly service to save video content and additional features, but it can be used without it. Really happy with this new box.

Big improvement over older model – first box was defective though
The first box I received was defective, which did not remove waste from the litter. Shout out to Amazon customer service for making the return process as simple as possible. UPS picked up the defective box from my home at no charge to me (fortunately I’d hung onto the original packaging), and I received credit for the full amount. Petkit customer service on the other hand was not at all helpful. It took a week and three videos of the defective box to get escalated to the next support team, which never responded to me and closed out my ticket after another week (this is the reason for the loss of a star).The new box is working great. Compared to the older Pura X box I have, I appreciate the large waste bin capacity, zero odor, and that the waste bin full notification works correctly – no overflow unlike the Pura X if you wait for the notification before emptying. Operating cost will be higher due to the need to purchase waste bag refill rings, but it’s worth it given the improvements. Also, my cats prefer the new box over the old one as I have both setup near each other and the new one gets more use.
