I’ve had a PUR faucet water filter for years. It really works at improving the taste of city water. The filter mechanism started leaking at its seams within the last year, which was very annoying and messy, as well as allowing some water to come out of the main faucet even with the filter handle turned on (this had nothing to do with the seal – believe me, I tested it).I found this PUR to replace it, since it was claimed that filters from the previous version would fit. They were correct: the filters I already own fit this PUR, which has saved me money and waste. It came with various handy adaptors, which I didn’t need for this faucet, but I’m glad they were included. Installation was easier and it fit more tightly on my faucet than the previous PUR. So far, no seam leaks or water coming out of the main faucet while using the filter, although it sounds different than the older one (a bit noisier for some reason).I also like (on both versions) the filter life indicator light. As on the previous PUR I owned, if the indicator doesn’t start working for a newly installed filter, you just open the PUR, pull out the filter and push the button inside, then reinstall the filter and close the PUR.As for longevity, I will update this review at a later date.

Installed June 19As an older person, I had a Brita pitcher before but it was too heavy for me to transfer from sink to fridge (backache). and I gave it away. I have been ordering bottled water (with groceries delivery) since then. Convenient but I still have to transfer the bottles into the refrigerator, and I drink a lot of water, again not good for my back.I decided to give a try to this PUR faucet water filter and I am so so glad I did.Installing was easy. It fits my faucet. I just had to work hard on tightening with my old hands but I did it.I turned the water on for 5 minutes then filled up a large bottle to keep in the fridge. Once cold, I transfer the water in my thermal bottle and refill the fridge bottle. That way I always have cold clean water ready.I read that a lot of people complain about the system leaking. Mine does not leak. It does slowly drips a few drops after use and then it stops. It just needs to be strongly tighten.I still have bottled water in the fridge. I tasted both, bottle and PUR. No difference.I am very pleased with my purchase at this time. Should there be a problem later, I will write an update.Follow-up September 10No problems for sure and so excited to give a positive follow-up. Almost 3 months, short 9 days and I am totally ok with it. This filter is probably one of the best things I bought in a long time. The yellow light started about a week ago. It turned red today. Replacing the filter was so easy: twist pull old filter insert new filter push twist. I let water run 5 minutes and good to go for another 3 months. Again, there is no leak (just few drops hanging/dripping immediately after use ), no need for tightening, just all fine. I am delighted with my purchase.

Better than its competitor!
I received a competitor’s vertical faucet mount water filtration system as a gift. I thought it was rather cheaply made and somewhat difficult to install, but it did the job. For about three months. Then it started leaking/spraying from the connection with the faucet and was no longer usable.I decided to replace it with a PUR horizontal faucet mount water filtration system since I liked the ease of getting filtered water directly from the tap. The first thing I noticed was how much sturdier the PUR seemed compared to my previous system. Although installation was basically the same as the earlier product, it was easier to install. Everything about the system feels like a higher grade than the one I had before. My only “complaint” is that the horizontal system makes it harder to see the flow of water from the faucet when the PUR is not in use. (I should’ve purchased another vertical mount system.)I have only had the PUR system for roughly 45 days so I can’t speak to its longevity. But I am very happy with the purchase so far and find it to be a better product overall than its competitor’s.

Easy to install and looks great! This is a great value and is a healthy option since we have high amount of iorn in our water. Maintains great water pressure and is good quality. I wish I would have purchased sooner!

easy to install and use
Very easy to install on the sink tap and easy to use as well. I’ve had other models where the switch from regular to filtered water was quite stiff and difficult to use but this one is extremely easy to change modes on. It’s also very easy to replace the filter, and the indicator light for the filter actually works unlike some other models I’ve used before.

Works great, but the filter light is red in less than 2 months and no way I filtered 100 gallons.
I have to say, once I figured out how to get it on and tightened down so it doesn’t leak, I was quite happy with the filtering results. Gets rid of chlorine and other off flavors just fine.My only complaint is that the filter light is red after less than 2 months and there is *no way* I filtered 100 gallons in that time, which is kind of annoying. (I bough it December 15th and was delivered on the 17th and it’s now February 14 of the following year, just short of 2 months.) I also don’t remember getting a yellow light to indicate that the filter was nearing it’s end of capacity.As far as I know, my water quality isn’t especially dirty or mineral laden, so I’m not sure why the light turned red so soon. The water still tastes about the same.Other than the annoyance with the light, I’m happy with it and would recommend it because it’s relatively cheap and effective. But I’d still like to know what’s up with the light and hope they fix it to be more accurate and consistent.

Great product.. but indication light battery is not replaceable. So once fixed battery runs out, the light won’t work again. That’s a bummer for such a a cool machine.

The whole kit includes 3 different tap/faucet adapters so no need to worry if it will fit. I used Teflon tape as an added measure and it installed in minutes. Works well and when I tried my city water and then turned the leaver to filtered, it was instantly noticeable the difference in taste. Great product that was easy to install.

I wanted to try for couple of weeks to see if I can find anything wrong with this filter. Iâve wasted time and money on other filters, now I found a very good one. Others are dangerous especially switching knob also construction on others are poor. Although this costs more itâs worth it, from metal adaptors to easy control knob and cheaper filter carts. Only issue I found is that you can accidentally with to filtered water, but I can easily deal with this considering how dangerous the other manufacturer is.
