Sous-vide in the Clear, 12 Quart Container
A note about this review: I did not use this container for the advertised purpose. Instead, I used it as many others have and will, as a sous-vide bath for cooking. My review will be from this point of view.Positives+Works great with Anova Sous-vide+Sturdy, even when full of water+Clear and easy to see the items cooking inside.+Easy to cleanNegatives-Is not BPA FreeI purchased the clear 12 quart storage container for the sole purpose of using it to cook with my Anova Sous-vide. I wanted something that would be large enough to accommodate large meals for when I have friends or family over, and it definitely does. I can easily feed 6 people with the space and though I have not tried, probably up to 10. Because the container is so much bigger than the pot I was originally using, it does take longer to warm the water, but as long as you fill it with hot water from the tap it should not take too long before you’re ready to cook.I also purchased the lid (linked below) for the container to try and prevent loss of water through evaporation. The lid is flexible plastic and I had no problem cutting a hole into it for the sous-vide to pass through. The lid sits pretty snug, even with multiple binder clips holding my sealed food circling the rim.Overall I think this is a great container for sous-vide cooking. Sturdy, functional, not “fancy”.
Shown in the picture is the 6L container holding a 4.4lb bag of corn masa flour. You can see by comparison, a 5lb bag of all purpose flour is nearly equivalent. You could probably use the 4L container to hold either, but there wouldn’t be much room remaining for a measuring cup, or any leftover flour between bags.It’s sturdy, but I wouldn’t want to drop it from counter height. This is a #7 “other” plastic, so I don’t know exactly what kind of plastic it is. It has some flex, but crystal clear plastics tend to be more brittle than other polypropylene plastics (#5) that are not quite crystal clear but have more flex to them. That said, the walls are thick, the top corners are reinforced, and the bottom corners are rounded to help disburse shock if it were dropped.The lid was purchased separately. There’s no rubber seal, so I can’t say it’s airtight, but it does snap down firmly over the lip of the container so it should keep out pantry moths, which was my biggest concern.Its size proportions are more suited to an actual pantry rather than the overhead cabinets I will be keeping it in, but it will meet my needs.

Compre estos contenedores que conservan muy bien las frutas y vegetales. Ahora con la pandemia tenia que comprar muchas frutas y verduras que me duraran por 15 días, puse las frutas y verduras en estos contenders y podría mantener la frescura mucho mas que en la caja/bandeja del refrigerador. Compre las tapas por separado ya que no las traen.

I bought this expressly for cooking using the sous vide method and it’s wonderful for it. It is robustly constructed and large enough to hold a large beef roast.This container is made for food storage and after having bought one am looking into buying more as rice and grain containers.I definitely recommend this product.
