Excellent tv stand with good storage
This is a beautiful piece of furniture. Unlike some of the previous reviews I did not see any imperfections in the finish. I used some care to protect the finish when putting the piece together, but did not find the finish to be easily scratched. It was easy to put together, there was plenty of hardware. The seller also included bags of extra hardware. The directions were great and all the predrilled holes lined up perfectly making it very easy to put together. I would recommend that you have someone available to help as this piece is large and heavy. A second person makes it easier, but is not necessary. It took a couple of hours to put together. We’ve had it set up for a few weeks now and have found it to be very sturdy, lots of great storage and so far, no marks on the finish.

Tall, dark, and skinny…
We are probably odd people. Our house is called “the bat castle”, just to set the tone for you. Halloween is all year round. We bought this in black, because, is there any other color? What lead to this purchase was that we recently bought a house (how adult), and we love it – but the living room is not good at rooming. The angles are all bizarre, there are windows where furniture should live, The way the room is set up now puts our TV in a corner that is not even remotely a perfect angle, because in the 1900’s, people didn’t have TVs. Love the character of a 1900’s house, not so in love with the layout of the rooms. Ah, the struggle is real.In any case, we shopped for a corner TV stand, because that seemed logical. The problem was finding one that wasn’t hideous (seriously, is it THAT hard to make something in black? We cannot be the only weirdos who buy furniture) or too small, or unnecessarily bulky. After much frustration with not finding one of these, it made sense to expand and get something not intended for a corner – because that is just coloring inside the lines for adults – how boring. The package is large and heavy – get someone to help you. Also – you should allow yourself a good 20 minutes to unpack the box. Pour a glass of wine, put on some tunes, and don’t rush through it, because there is a LOT of packaging. That is NOT a complaint at all. One has to appreciate that someone took the time to wrap each piece in protective foam (which I also don’t recommend disposing of until after the assembly is complete – as others have already posted in regards to this piece, the finish is delicate and will chip easily, but you can use the packaging to protect each piece as you are assembling it). I cannot stress the importance of sorting everything prior to assembly, especially if doing this with a partner whom you value. I also highly recommend finding someone to help you – assembling this alone would be unwise – if you have to bribe someone, do it. This part is especially true during the door installation – if my partner had not been there, I wouldn’t be typing this.It took 2 of us about 2 hours to fully unpack, sort, and assemble this piece. It is a perfect height, which was a big reason why I purchased this stand. 32″ high which makes viewing from any area of the room perfect. We are upgrading the TV from the current one which is about 45″ – going up to a 55″ – but it will fit nicely on this stand. The other plus is the storage. The center shelves have air vents (!!!!!!! seems so obvious – why doesn’t EVERY TV/Entertainment stand have this feature?????). We have a PS4, a Roku, and a VCR/DVD combo (hey, I have a lot of VHS tapes that cannot be replaced – sue me, I’m old school) and there is still so much room. And there are two pretty big cabinet spaces for any little things you might want to tuck away. (VHS tapes & some games/blu rays)If you want something with a lot of storage, a great height, which doesn’t take up a lot of depth (this is only 19″ deep), GET THIS. You don’t even have to love black as much as we do because it’s sleek, and would probably work in cheery home too.

High qualtiy, but black finish scratches easily
This is a very high quality piece of furniture, and I was quite impressed with the packing and included hardware. Instructions were not included, nor could I find a link on the Simpli Home website, but there is a link to the PDF in the Amazon product description, so print those out before assembly. This is a decent value for the money, and looks very classy. The assembly was pretty easy, it uses the same kind of hardware to join the sides to the top/bottom as most Ikea furniture, where a screw-in metal post on one part joins to a rotating lock nut that fits inside a circular cutout in the adjoining wood part. The only tools required are a #2 Phillips head screwdriver and the included hex key. It definitely helps to have some experience with furniture assembly, but I think anyone could figure it out. It took me 90 minutes to assemble at a leisurely pace. There is no glue, so this can be easily disassembled and reassembled for moving (which is good since it weighs 75 pounds). There was plenty of room for my cable box, VHS player, 2 DVD players, a Playstation 3, A/V receiver, an Apple TV, Apple Time Capsule, large WiFi router, cable modem, and home automation bridges, with room left more more. I like the way there is plenty of room to run cables between the shelves and the open top. This made it possible for me to make everything very clean along with some cable wraps in the back. There are slots in the equipment shelves to help with airflow and prevent overheating. The storage had room for over 100 DVDs spread out over assorted jewel boxes, box sets, and folders, plus around 40 CDs, and I still have room for more. This is stacking them several layers deep, though, with only the first layer visible from the front.I had to deduct one star because the wood is pretty soft and the black paint scratches easily. I might have gotten the woodgrain one if I had realized this, even though this goes better with my interior. I plan on getting a fabric runner for the top to prevent the inevitable scratching of the surface. The front should be OK, as long as I can keep the cat from scratching it. My previous entertainment center from Ikea is 20 years old and was still going strong. I see no reason why this piece of furniture won’t last at least that long.
