    Works great!
I have to say, my tap water is not all that bad with a TDS reading below 200 and no really bad smells or taste. This filter brought down the TDS to 45-18 which is a pretty good improvement but I think it’s odd that sometimes I get down around 18 and others it’s 45. Not sure why. Not a huge difference in taste but like I said my water tasted ok from the start. I just got this to improve on the purity of what I was drinking. This unit produces water on demand, you push a button for 12, 18 or 36ozs and it automatically measures that amount of water into the 36oz glass pitcher that comes with the unit. There is pretty much no assembly required, you unbox it, slap on a magnetically attached drip tray, set the glass pitcher under the spout and you’re ready to go. There is some preparation the first time you use it. There is a filter in the top of the pitcher you have to soak for 10 minutes and then rinse out well. Then you need to run 3-5 tanks (about 1.3 gallons) of water through it to flush out the new filters. Then you are good to make over 500 gallons of water before you have to change the filter. The 1.3 gallon water tank is easy to fill and replace, it has a sturdy handle and automatic valves that seal it when you lift it off the back of the unit. I didn’t have any trouble with drips when carrying it back and forth to the sink to fill it. With Reverse Osmosis there is always some “waist” water, this unit circulates that back into thee tank. When it tells you to “change water” there will still be a few inches of water in the tank that you MUST dump out before refilling. They claim that their waste water-to filtered water is better than most other filter. The waste water is not really “bad” but it won’t be quite as pure as your tap water was to start with. It should be perfectly fine to use for cleaning or watering plants. It comes VERY well packed to survive any abuse when being shipped. Be sure to have some room when you are unboxing it. Mine came in a large Amazon box which had a large manufacturer’s box inside and that had yet another box fitted tightly inside. That final box had the actual unit packed in a thick foam shell.

Easy to use, cheaper than bottled water. Filter design and function are great!
This is an easy (no installation) and relatively inexpensive way to get reverse osmosis drinking water in your home. It may not look inexpensive when you look solely at the upfront cost. (about $390 initial purchase and $50-$60 per replacement filter set) You have to compare apples to apples though. I’ve been using 5 gallon bottles of water that I swap out at my grocery store. I’m spending around $8 per bottle when I bring in one and swap it. I get 5 gallons of great, filter water or about $1.60 per gallon. Not exactly cheap but doesn’t sound too bad? Alternatively, using this system, the filter set will produce about 528 gallons of filtered water. The filter sets cost between $50-$60 per set. That makes that filtered water cost $0.114 per gallon! Quite a difference! Until you work the math, the bottles don’t seem too bad, but now? From now on, I’m filtering my own water. I could install an undercounted RO system. I have installed and used one before. But I don’t really want to use up the under counter space. I also worry about how much waste water that system will use. This system hits the sweet spot for me.The initial install takes a little time but it isn’t difficult. After unboxing, there is almost nothing to assemble. The unit comes completely assembled. You set it on a counter, slide a magnetically attached drip tray up to the front and put the pitcher on it. The instructions say to wash out the reservoir and pitcher, then fill the reservoir with tap water. Then you run 3 full pitchers of water through the unit to rinse out the filters and it is ready to go.I had assumed that it filtered water in advance and dispensed it from a reservoir but that is not how it works. It actually filters the water in real time when you request it. The unit has 3 presets for a set volume of water. The choices are 12 oz, 18 oz and 36 oz. The pitcher holds a maximum of 36 oz. It took my filter one minute and 45 seconds (00:01:45) to dispense 18 oz of filtered water. It will produce about 3 full pitchers of water before you have to empty and refill the reservoir. The documentation for the filter says it produces 4 units of filtered water for each unit of waste water. I don’t know how much an undercounter RO system wastes but I think it is more unless you buy one that has an electric pump in it.The water quality seems great. I can detect no smell and no taste in the filtered water. Our tap water definitely has a chemical smell to it and a bit of taste. This takes care of all that.
