Great deal, easy to use
These tapo cameras are pretty great for the price. I waited for a sale and got them at an even better price (the prices of these things fluctuate so much). They’re definitely worth it, especially if you can snag them on sale like I did. The AI pet detection is really cool – my dog likes to run around in the backyard and sometimes jump on the fence, but this camera caught every instance without any issues. It even sent me a notification when he started barking at a squirrel once (I guess that’s considered a threat). The video quality is pretty good too – I can see everything clearly, even at night with the night vision. The two-way audio works well enough if you need to tell your pet or child to calm down from another room. It took me a little while to set up the cameras, but once I got them connected to my Wi-Fi and Alexa (which was easy), everything worked smoothly. My only complaint is that the app can be a bit buggy sometimes, but it’s not too bad.

Very good camera for the price
I now have 8 of these cameras for home security use, for 16 dollars you can’t beat the price.I purchased these knowing the risks of ordering inexpensive cameras manufactured in China and the serious security risks that come along with some of them. These are labeled as being manufactured in Vietnam which is not currently on the list of banned IT products by the DoD. I have not had the time to Wireshark then to verify that no personal information is being sent to any unknown servers. I chose these because they supposedly support both ONVIF and RTSP streams over a local network.Pros:- These cameras DO support the ONVIF protocol and also RTSP streaming, and it works very well. This allows you to integrate them with other 3rd party software, NVRs, and custom applications. They can also be streamed using VLC media player.- The image quality is great for such an inexpensive camera. They can be set up on a flat table surface or ceiling mount.- They are lightweight and cheaply put together, however sturdy and can take a bit of a beating without breaking.- The TAPO android app is far superior to other apps I have used. It provides lots of features and initial setup was relatively simple.- Once the cameras are set up on the TAPO app, they will continue to work when connected to an air-gapped (no internet access) LAN. The TAPO app will also work without an internet connection, so these can be placed on a VLAN without internet access.Cons:- Although ONVIF and RTSP are supported, you DO need to install the TAPO app to set the cameras up initially. As mentioned, they will work on an air-gapped network after initial setup.- The base shaft of the cameras are not removable (only the base itself), so if you are building custom stands or mounts, this will have to be broken off.- Ceiling mounting these can be slightly painstaking, as the screws that are required to be removed to mount the base are the same screws that provide tension to the ball-in-groove adjustment.- Unlike most small cameras available, these are powered by a 9VDC plug-in transformer and not a standard USB-C or Micro-USB phone charger. The charger IS included, but ceiling mounting these can be an issue if no local receptacle is available to plug into.

Tapo cameras are GREAT!!
I now own 4 of these cameras and have never had a single problem with any of them. They have out of the box rtsp support w/ username and password. They connect flawlessly with frigate at full resolution and 1080p and even support audio transmission/recording with no hastle. Have never disconnected despite them being wifi connected cameras. Decent in low light. They have default substreams of lower quality… must I go on?Additionally, the tapo app is pretty nice. I exclusively use it to view cameras live in a pinch – the app gives instant notifications if a person is detected. The app by itself seems more than usable if you have sd cards or subscribe to the tp tapo cloud subscription, but I cannot speak specifically to that route.TLDR; You are not going to get a better camera in a better ecosystem + it works great in frigate.

Setup was surprisingly easy, with clear instructions and an intuitive app interface. The motion detection is highly responsive and sends instant alerts without excessive false alarms. I also appreciate the cloud/local storage options, which give flexibility depending on security needs. The build quality is solid, and the weatherproof design makes it perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. Overall, this is a fantastic security investmentâgreat value for the price, easy to use, and packed with useful features. Highly recommended!

These cameras just work – the setup was easy, the physical install and design works well, the app is quite useful and works well. And, to top it off, the RTSP/ONVIF functionality in these works perfect – just click ‘camera account’ in the settings, create a username and password, and then connect to the camera with a url like this; rtsp;//username:password@192.168.1.1:554/stream1 – the quality is fantastic! and I’ve replaced all my wyze cameras with these units. Don’t hesitate to buy!

Purchased single units previously all had Australian plugs, the price was quoted in AUD for this 4 pack so i made the assumption that Aussie plugs were fitted, Cameras are great but the plug issue is a bit of an inconvenience
