Vet recommended these, excellent for keeping teeth clean
The vet recommended this product and I’ve been using it with my dogs for years. My late shetland sheepdog used these daily and never needed a single teeth cleaning. My current chihuahua started using these after I adopted her and I noticed a huge improvement in her teeth within a few days. Her teeth became whiter and her bad breath totally went away. These are meant for more medium sized dogs but my chihuahua is a very aggressive chewer. I cut these in half for her with garden shears and she’ll finish a piece in about 20 minutes depending on the thickness of the piece. As others have mentioned, it’s frustrating that the thickness of the pieces varies a lot and some batches are a lot darker brown than others. I wish there was more consistency in their product but I continue buying it because of how effective it is for dental health.

    Vet recommended!
These oral hygiene chews are wonderful for removing tartar on our dogs’ teeth. Our pets love them and it has helped with keeping their teeth healthy. The sizing is just right for our small pets and they like the taste. Highly recommend these chews.

    My Dog is Addicted
My hound (72lbs) has been getting a Virbac CET rawhide chew after dinner every night for the past two years. We alternate between the regular CET chews and the more expensive HEXtras; he loves both. It is not an exaggeration to say getting his chewy is the high point of his day. They have also made a visible difference in his dental health. His teeth and gums are healthy and get a thumbs-up from his vet. They are an expensive habit, but I figure over the long run it is a net gain in terms of his health and comfort (annually it also comes out to less money than a dental service, and the associated risk inherent to sedation for a senior dog).

    Cleans Plaque, Smells Horrendous
I find that the more offensive the smell, the more my dogs want to eat it, and these chews are no exception! I’ve been buying CET chews for decades and they do a great job clearing plaque. My latest husky mix has naturally awful teeth. When she was a year old, the vet absolutely insisted she was 3-4 based on her teeth. I’ve been giving her CET chews for some time, but they just hadn’t been helping the way they’d helped all my other dogs.I finally opted for Hextra, and the difference is obvious most of the way through our first bag (eating one per night). The plaque is mostly gone from her molars, and only the canines still look bad.I must say that the smell upon opening the bag, or entering a room where a chew is being eaten, is exceptionally strong and very pungent. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s vomit inducing. Most port a potties I’ve been in don’t even smell this bad. But they work, and my extremely picky little rescue mutt, who regularly turns down eggs and cheese in her food, gobbles these up. She is sick of her premium canned food and certain treats by the second day, yet every night for a month she eagerly awaits and devours a Hextra chew. When it’s bed time, she will stay on my heels, licking her chops and sighing loudly until she gets one.I knocked down one star because I’ve noticed an increase in her vomiting bile or clear fluid since introducing the chews, but though nothing else has changed, I can’t be certain it’s the chews. Her teeth are bad enough, and the vomiting infrequent enough, to where I’d still rather give her the chews and clean her teeth. I will update if anything changes, better or worse.

    My dog loves them!
We have a strong chewer! Our vet recommended these instead of the bones we were giving our Woody! He loves these! He loves the smell and so do we! He can chew on it for hours and we don’t have to worry that they will hurt him!

My Vet Recommended, and My Dog LOVES
My dog’s vet recommended this brand of chews about a year ago, and we’ve been loyal customers ever since. My dog is approx 31 lbs, 2 years old, and a shepherd mix. Not only does my dog love them but they work wonders keeping him occupied for 10-20 minutes, and his teeth are in excellent condition. Would absolutely recommend!

    My little guy loves them
My Jack Russell Chihuahua loves these bones! It’s the only ones I can seem to find that he likes. I give him one a week. He loves them! Thank you!

These are good dental chews for your pups.My older one goes through it fairly quickcompared to the younger who is still getting her permanent teeth in.They soften up as the dog chews so as with any chew of this kindonly give it when you can watch them to be sure they don’t over do it and possibly choke. Not an every day treat, but an occasional one.

Recommended by vet, my jack russell loves them. I gave her one a day to help keep her teeth clean. She was having problems before with food and buildup at her back teeth, discoloured teeth, requiring costly dental cleanings. She still gets her teeth cleaned once a year, but the teeth look so much better since she started using these chews 3 years ago.

The chews came with this weird brown coating, after looking at reviews I learned that they went bad.
