    Great for emergencies
I keep these kinds of straws in bug out bags, get home bags, in vehicles, and other packs that I have. And I keep extras in a bin in my closet. You never know when you might need something like this, especially in these crazy times we live in. According to the manufacturer, this thing will filter out even very small unseen things that could be in the water. I have not tested their claims yet. But I feel much better knowing I have this thing in my get home bag if something were to go wrong and I didn’t have water. It gets super hot here, and you could dehydrate very fast without some access to clean water. This is on the bigger side compared to some others, but that probably means the capacity on it is greater. I like the carabiner on the side. You can clip it to your belt and not have to hold it. Get one or three of these and put them in your cars. They are great to have.

    seems to work
i have not tested it on any really bad water but ive tested it a few times when on hikes and passing streams and what not and so far i have yet to get sick lol…i wouldn’t suggest testing it this way but i needed to see if it actually worked or not. it stays in a pack out bag that i bring when hiking or back-country skiing never know what may happen and what you may need better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it

Convoluted to figure out but works
The instructions for this are pretty crazy. I opened it and put it down for three weeks because I didn’t need it immediately. It does work! We like to keep one of these with us on long river paddles, just in case of emergency. I’ve not had to use it in an emergency yet, but we did test to make sure it works before taking it with us and it does! I have run out of water on a paddle before with hours left to go (worst planning ever) and that was horrible. I really like knowing that I now have a safety net just in case.

    Great for hikers
We live up in Alaska and having clean water sources while in the back country is essential. This unit is small enough to carry in your day pack but not something that I would carry for a long time in my pocket. The unit does work and allows you to drink from natural running water sources without significant risk of getting sick. Highly recommended if you are an outdoors kind of person.

Functions as Intended | Great Life Saving Gear
This Personal Water Filter Straw from HOAYCCOM is great for keeping in your pack during hiking, camping or any outdoor adventures. The package includes a plastic straw which secures to the bottom of the filter so you can reach water in a gallon jug, or even a collapsible water pouch with ease. The bottom of the straw is also threaded, so you can connect it directly to traditional plastic bottles, like 12 oz water bottles or 2L soda bottles. Would recommend to a friend! Thanks for reading.

Great for emergencies or on the trail
I do a lot of camping and sometimes have to rely on water sources that are a bit sketchy. Having this super portable filter fits easily in the kitchen drawer of my campervan, or even in my pocket when out hiking and taking pictures. The stream water looks great here in the Colorado mountains, but I know from the experts that it isn’t and treatment or filtration is always needed. My campervan has a decent size water tank which I fill up with local tap water before heading out on an extended camping trip, but it’s nice to use any local resources if possible to conserve my potable water supply. I also catch rain water off my campervan awning into a bucket, and with this filter I feel safe drinking it.This is a very handy size, inexpensive and it’s hard to find a reason not to have one as a backup at the very least. This particular “straw” type filter looks a bit more rugged than others, as well.

Should be an Essential Component of Any Emergency Kit
A filtration pore size of 0.01 microns, the pore size of the Hoayccom Water Filter Straw, as asserted by the seller, is referred to as “Ultrafiltration.” The next finer resolution would be Nanofiltration, with a pore size of 0.001 microns, then finally, Reverse Osmosis, that removes everything except hydrogen and oxygen molecules.Based on the seller’s stated efficacy, their Water Filter Straw will remove pathogens, that is, bacteria and viruses, oils, giardia cyst, endotoxin pyrogens, along with the majority of total dissolved solids (TDS). What doesn’t it remove? Synthetic dyes, for example; water sources contaminated by a chemical spill might want to be avoided. However, the straw is well suited to the “scope of use” defined in the seller’s description and will provide potable water in most emergency situations. We live in the So. Cal. desert. As I write this review, on Oct. 1st, it is 113°F outside; we carry this type of straw in each of our cars, along with a gallon of water. Breaking down and left out in the heat can be dangerous. We also travel to Mexico quite often, and will take this along for use when drinking water from an unknown source, like a small town restaurante. The Hoayccom Water Filter is compact and is supplied with a plastic straw that fits on either end; for drawing water up into the filter or out of it. In addition, it comes with a carbineer so that it can be clipped to a backpack, or what have you. For such a small cost, it could be a lifesaver in an emergency. This would make a thoughtful gift that anyone may have a need.

    Works perfectly
Per the pictures below you can see that the water filter straw came in plastic and inside a box that has directions for use and care instructions. Upon opening I can tell this is a nice straw purifier. It’s a portable size but definitely heavy duty. Can stand up to being used for hiking, survival kit or to have in your emergency bag at home or in your automobile. It comes with a carabiner to attach to backpack, belt loop or even your purse or can be placed in a pocket of pants or backpack as well. The dimensions indicated are accurate and the weight in the description seems about right as well. The way it purifies is through a hollow fiber membrane thru poly iodine and charcoal. It says it can be stored unopened for up to five years. It’s seems easy to open and clean. If cleaned properly it says it will extend the use life. It is also attachable to water bottles or pouches which is very convenient.
