YOU CAN HEAL YOUR PET – “Everything is possible for those who believe.”
âYOU CAN HEAL YOUR PET. The Practical Guide to Holistic Health and Veterinary Careâ.Written by Animal Healer Elizabeth Whiter and Veterinary Surgeon and Animal Healer Dr Rohini Sathish. This book is a valuable compass to navigate through many questions we encounter as a pet guardian AND equally as a source of inspiration. âWhat can I do when my pet shows signs of tiredness, boredom, refusing food, or illness?â The authors show a way out of it, underlining the fact though, that whatever symptom your pet shows, your vet is to be addressed first to check whatâs what. Then, secondly and to support the process and maintain great health in your animal, we gain a structured view on how we can move toward a wholesome and more holistic approach where our pets are concerned. Thus so through:⢠well-chosen and non-processed food⢠allowing our pets to self-select food, smells (through infused oils, honey, herbs and lightly cooked vegetables)⢠healing time: spending quality time with your pet, offering and giving back some of the unconditional love we are receiving of them and are blessed with every day. YOU CAN HEAL YOUR PET is a book to read through from beginning to end, to get an in-depth idea about what healing means and to get some appetite as for going for it AND apply it. It is also a book to browse through a certain chapter only, looking for inspiration and help for our pets, and – last not least – it is a compendium to look up things specifically, as symptoms and help for illnesses, for instance. And moreover, one of its main aims is to empower the pet owner to be inspired and find out what their pets want and need to be happy and healthy. Amongst many aspects (see overview in chart below) the authors give insights into the demands of a modern veterinarian practice and offer valuable advice here also: Such as stepping up as an equal and informed pet owner with a curious and open mind, having your best petâs interests at heart. Because you can. And because it matters. The book is divided into four major parts and twelve chapters:Part I: Holistic & Practical Pet Care (chapters 1-4)Dealing with the quality of food and diets, A-Z food recipes for cats and dogs, self-made meals & treats, A-Z pet friendly herbs and how we can support our pets through herbs; harvesting herbs and what to do themPart II: Healing and Integrated Vet Care (chapters 5-7):How we can give healing to our pets using hands on healing, acupressure; and an A-Z reference guide as for common conditions in cats and dogs, including treatment optionsPart III: Empowering the Pet Guardian (chapters 8-10)Medication, if drugs are used, which and why; the vaccination debate â finding answers; choosing the right vet for you and your petPart IV: Responsible Pet Guardianship (chapters 11+12)Giving a pet a home; adopting a rescued animal; letting go of your pet, dealing with the loss of your pet. The whole book is written in a very concise and comprehensible style. Straight to the point, but never lacking insight and a great heart. I would like to point out a chapter I liked very much: For me âmyâ chapter was chapter 2. I loved the simple and efficient tips on harvesting herbs and how we can use them to support and enhance our petsâ health and beauty. Chapter 2 deals with recipes for cats and dogs you can prepare yourself, using basic ingredients you have at home.Oh my gosh, I had so much fun!The chicken broth for both cats and dogs has become âtheâ yellow box in the fridge that is always asked for, especially so by our tomcat who âconsuming quite some amount of it – recovered very well from a recent and painful cat bite in his back. To treat him further I tried the Fishcake for catsâ¦no sooner had I opened the oven and pulled out the tray, than our tomcat Carlson arrived in the kitchen! Sniffing and parading with his tail up, he demanded his share in it, jumping on my kitchen worktable. So I let the fishcake cool down a little, cut out little pieces for both of us and one piece was for him, one for meâ¦, so scrummy! All the recipes I have tried out so far were delicious: to the dog, the cat, or â in the absence of both â just me âº. My first impulse on browsing the book some weeks back was to start on the infused sun- flower oils, a happy choice as I am now bottling them for usage, often feeling like an apothecary of ancient times⦠It is the perfect season now to go out and harvest fruits, berries, seeds and some last herbs to store and infuse more oils and honey withâ¦so whenever I go for a walk, I make sure I have my eyes open, my paper bag and scissors ready to collect what Nature offers me. Once started you become quite unstoppable! What I loved while working my way through the entire book was to experience questions arise within me and to find them answered, sooner or later, e.g. food vs. sensitivities. Or, regarding the highly disputed aspect of vaccinating your pets vs. allowing social contacts etc. Another aspect I really loved about this book: It does not pretend to be something it is not. If you expect a book with lots of theoretical information about your pets -there is plenty of wonderful books out there. This was not the authorsâ aim. Their focus is clearly a very practical one, as the title promises: âYOU CAN HEAL YOUR PET. The Practical Guideâ¦â; and equally their focus is on empowering us as pet guardians. âYou Can Heal Your Petâ: This is not a question, it is a statement confirming an old truth – it has all been given to us, we can all do it. Provided an open heart, a curious mind and the willingness to make life better and easier for our four-legged friends. And remembering one thing we have almost forgotten: Love heals. Our unconditional love can heal, support our four-legged where they find themselves injured, in shock, traumatized, need to be operated, etc. And, whatever is concerned, we as pet guardians have our say in it, we can be part of the healing process, we are not bystanders anymore, this feels truly supportive. Thank you so much for this book, I have long waited for something profound AND practical like it!What I loved most about this book was how empowering the two ladies are. Sharing their knowledge and encouraging us to try and see what works for us. When you meet Elizabeth, you understand the tone of the book. She is a wonderfully inspired woman, down to earth, very empathic, very grounded and always with the animalsâ best interest at her heart. She is truly amazing! Throughout the book it became clear to me and repeatedly so: Healing is a many-layered process, including different levels of perception. It is about food, remedies, our life-style, companionship, our attitude towards our petsâ rich inner lives, unconditional love and how we can reclaim it⦠In fact, it is the whole package. One more thing this book reminded me of: Whatever diet we choose for our pet, whatever lifestyle, let it be a diverse one, full of playfulness and ease. We do not want to eat the same food every day, walk the same route every day, nor do the same things over and over again every day either, so why would our pets? Letâs include diversity in our playtime, quality time, healing time. Enjoy your time with this book and cooking some of the recipes, allowing your pets to choose for themselves what suits themâ¦you might just be surprised! I took so much pleasure in thoroughly working my way through the book! And I wish everyone interested in making a shift from conventional thinking and pet care to a more wholesome and holistic approach to go for it and try out yourselves. It turned my half-wild tomcat into an even happier cat, enjoying life better and better and regularly asking for a healing session in my lap. Elizabeth Whiter and Dr Rohini Sathish offer so much precious advice in this book. Itâs up to us readers and pet lovers, pet guardians and friends of the animal realm to put it into practice, to apply it to our four-leggeds. The results are rewarding and speak for themselves: Happy shiny eyes, a cold wet doggie muzzle and a licking tongue still savouring past scrummiesâ¦As Elizabeth puts it: âEverything is possible for those who believe.âReviewed by Ellen Braun

I really don’t get it. I was so looking forward to receiving this book as another holistic-type, alternative healing style guide for my extensive library. I was completely disappointed! The recipes call for some ‘good’ ingredients yet the binder they use is the dreaded white flour! I was shocked! Further disappointing, was that real and helpful advice was not really given, only a reminder to ‘go and see your vet’…VERY disappointed! This did not help or ‘teach’ me something new in any way.

This incredibly informative book is written by two dedicated experts in their field – Elizabeth Whiter, Founder of the Healing Animals Organisation, now celebrating it’s 10th year, and Dr Rohini Sathish, MRCVS, an accomplished Veterinary Surgeon. Their extensive individual knowledge of both complementary therapies and traditional medicines has been combined to provide a true one-stop shop for help, support and guidance whatever your question may be about your pets health. You will find chapters as the A-Z of Common Conditions in Cats and Dogs, Which Drugs and Why and the Vaccination Debate but You Can Heal Your Pet is truly holistic and empowering and there are wonderful guides on how to give healing to your pet, giving a rescue pet a home, plus sensitively written advice on how to deal with bereavement when the time comes for your pet to transition to Rainbow Bridge. At the very least, sharing Animal Healing with your pet will deepen the bond between you, as the greatest gift we can give our pets is our time. This book will make a terrific addition to any pet owners’ library, whether you have just bought a kitten or a puppy or would like to care for your dearest animal friend at whatever stage of life, in a better, more informed way. It would make a great gift for any animal lover too!

This book is comprehensive – the co- authors are: an award winning holistic and integrative veterinary surgeon, Dr Rohini Sathish and Elizbeth Whiter, a qualified animal and human healer, qualified in zoopharmacognosy, nutrition and indigenous plant material (herbs). She also here teaches us how we can, through touch, bring healing to our animals. There is an A-Z easy reference to common conditions and ailments with treatment options, plus a guide to which drugs and why and also how relieve stress in your pet and yourself and how to choose a vet. Finally, there is help for when it is time to let go. Dealing with the loss of your pet.I highly recommend this book. Your animal companion will thank you for buying and using it..

This is an interesting book. I would suggest you use more than 1 source reference. Also this is no substitute for veterinary care, but probably wouldn’t hurt as an addition.

This is the âmust haveâ book for every animal guardian as it empowers each and every one of us to help heal our pets. It inspirationally and passionately demonstrates that it is possible to integrate conventional and complementary therapies for the wellbeing of our pets. The reader is educated and enabled to help prevent pets becoming ill in the first place, to support them through illness or to help them recover and maintain health after illness. The book is structured beautifully providing both an excellent read cover to cover and also easy access to specific topics such as diet, wonderful recipes, an A-Z of common conditions and how to give healing for relaxation and rebalancing. Thank you Elizabeth and Rohini for sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience in such an accessible way.
