I looked at many vests before deciding on this one; the fact that I could adjust the weight was a big selling point for me. I had done some minimal rucking and thought a vest would be good. I read other reviews on this product and I agree that it does have a bit of an unpleasant odor when it is first unpacked. Not overpowering, but definitely present for days…. HOWEVER, the smell did not transfer to my clothes – so big win for that. I got this vest a couple of weeks ago and have used it nearly every day for walking. My first time, I used all the weights (so a total of 20 pounds). After about 1.5 miles, my shoulders were hurting. After I took it off, my shoulders had red marks where the vest was sitting. For my second use, I took off 5 pounds (two of the little weighted bags) and it was definitely better. No red marks, so I guess the original 20 pounds was just too heavy for me? My shoulders and body ached a bit for several days (not unbearable) but I am pleased to say that a couple of weeks later, I am still at the 15 pound level, and can wear it comfortably now for up to 4 miles (I could probably wear it longer, just haven’t done so yet). I was surprised that I was/am sore in the places I was (a little bit in legs and core) – so I guess it is doing something good for me. I definitely feel I am “working harder” when I walk with the vest – heart beats harder/faster, I can feel it pretty much everywhere, and have find myself sweating. So overall, after getting myself use to it, and experimenting to find the right weight for me, I am glad I purchased this vest! Though it does look like I am wearing a bullet proof vest on my walks….

Well made and comfortable but smells
The vest is comfortable, easy to remove and add the adjustable weights and seems to be well made. I’ve had the vest hanging for a couple weeks to air out but the chemical smell is not dissipating. It’s a chemical kind of smell and as you exercise and work up a sweat, it smells worse.

Smelly, difficult to put on, not snug
I really wanted to like this product, but ultimately decided to return it. The item had a strong chemical smell that lingered even after sitting in an open room for a week. Putting it on was challenging because it’s heavy and requires lifting it over your head. Once on, the buckles were hard to reach and the fit wasn’t snug and it was difficult to adjust. Although there are adjustment straps on the side, you can’t tighten them while wearing it since the mechanism needs both hands, and you can’t reach it properly unless you take the item off. After finally getting the straps almost tight enough, I found I couldn’t easily reach the buckles to fasten them. Overall, it’s more complicated and less user-friendly than I had hoped.
