A Good Small Filter for Hard Water
I bought the ZeroWater ZP-006-4 water filter three months ago, and have used it since then. So far, I’m quite happy with it.Our water comes from a well, and is relatively “hard” — 300 ppm Total Dissolved Solids (mostly Calcium Carbonate). We get calcium carbonate deposits in plumbing, coffee maker, shower, sink faucets, and everywhere else that our water touches. We have been buying bottled water to use in our Keurig coffee maker for several years, so that hard water deposits don’t ruin it. I bought the Zero filter specifically to “soften” our hard well water for use in the Keurig coffee maker, so we can stop buying bottled water every week. If you have well water in your home, this is a good option to remove hardness from small amounts of water. The Zero filter removes almost all calcium carbonate hardness from the water, and it comes with a digital tester that enables the user to confirm there is zero measurable hardness in the filtered water. (Thus the Zero name.) The filter is also supposed to filter out small solid particles (which I’m pretty sure it does) and organic compounds (which I have no way to know if it does or not). Our well water tastes fine straight from the tap, and tastes just about the same out of the Zero filter. To use the ZeroWater filter, you pour four cups of water into the upper reservoir. It only holds four cups — not six. So it should really be called a 4-cup filter rather than a 6-cup filter. It takes 5-10 minutes for the water to flow down through the filter into the lower reservoir. Once the tap water has passed through the filter into the lower reservoir, you pour a small amount of the filtered water into a clean glass and test it with the included digital TDS meter, to make sure the filter is still working and producing “zero” water. With our 300 ppm well water, a filter lasts through 40-60 fills x 4-cups per fill = about 10-15 gallons of filtered water, before the filtered water TDS starts to show that some hardness is passing through the filter (meter reading above zero). No two filter cartridges have lasted for the same amount of usage — thus the ranges above. That’s economical for me, as compared to buying plastic jugs of “spring water” from the grocery store and eliminates the hassle of recycling the plastic jugs.ZeroWater recommends replacing the filter cartridge as soon as the hardness in the filtered water reaches 6 ppm. If your water has higher TDS than 300, then you would get fewer fills, and conversely if you have lower TDS you would get more fills. The filter can only handle so much calcium carbonate before it is “used up”, and then it will pass the hardness through until you change the filter cartridge. We remove the filter cartridge and run the pitcher and other permanent parts through the dishwasher whenever we change the filter cartridge. That cleans the pitcher to control bacterial or mold growth in the always-moist/wet pitcher. You do need to pay attention when screwing a new filter into the upper reservoir, to make sure it threads in properly and seals tight so that tap water doesn’t bypass the filter and leak into the lower reservoir. The first time I did it, the filter threads leaked and I had to empty it and tighten up the filter some more. That could be challenging for women or children with smaller hands, as it does take some significant force & grip to get the filter tight enough. I could see the water running down the outside of the filter cartridge when it was leaking. The filter pitcher build & fit quality is good. It all stays together like it should, and comes apart easily when needed for cleaning or filter replacement. The pitcher handle is comfortable to hold and use. Some reviewers have noted an odor from the filter and filtered water, but we haven’t had that issue with ours.

    Best tasting filtered water
I am bougie about my water and live in a city with extremely hard water that has recently started to smell too much like chlorine. That’s what pushed me to get this. This filter works!!! There is no smell in the water, and the water taste similar to Crystal Geyser, clean! The dispenser holds alot of water. I only wish that the spigot had a lever or something that would hold the button down. My thumb does hurt from holding the button down when I’m feeling my half gallon water bottles. I also wish it had a light indicator that would tell me when to change the filter. I have to check it with a tool that it comes with. I highly recommend zero water filters if you want clean water.

excellent taste and long lasting FACTORY filter
I fill my 12 cup coffee pot every other day and drinking water 3 times a day with zero water filtered water. The factory provided filter was great and lasted a long time, with me testing once every week. It lasted about 3.5 months while I watched the ppm count get to 150. When it came time to buy replacement filters, I bought a 3 pack through Amazon. The filters were supposed to be original factory zero water filters, but now the company was bought out by the Culligan water company. Their filters are made in Mexico! The first of the 3 filters lasted 2.5 months. the second filter lasted only 2 months and the water had a metallic lemon taste. ! I’m on my last filter now, and after this filter is done I’m not going to buy any more Mexican made filters! It’s just me using the water. Are there better aftermarket filters out there? If not, i’ll keep the ppm gauge and chuck the rest of my wasted money in the rubbish heap!

Great tasting water … a big money saver for my CPAP water, but …
I purchased this filtering pitcher specifically to be the source of water for my CPAP machine’s water reservoir. I’m supposed to use distilled water, but man, I’ve only got so much room in my fairly small house. Isn’t there an alternative? Well yes, you can buy a water distiller, which is fairly bulky and a good one’ll cost ya about $100 or more. OR, it seems, as I’ve done my research, it appears that if the water is so purified that there’s no stuff and junk and stuff in it, then that should be sufficient as well (that and making sure to remember to empty the CPAP reservoir every morning, rather than letting it sit there being a veritable stew for all sorts of microscopic monsters). So there ya go! I’ve got “next-to-just-as-good-as-distilled” water for the price of a ZeroWater pitcher and filter and it only takes up a negligible space in my fridge. The flavor of the water is absolutely amazing for this simple reason: There’s no flavor. It’s so perfect and pure, it’s almost sexy. But it’s water. The water moves through the filter a lot faster than I thought it would, going through 5 stages and all.My only complaint is that the lid, which you must remove, as in actually remove from the pitcher and lay it on the countertop, in order to refill the reservoir with water from the faucet. And I mean you have to stick your fingers into the front lip of the pitcher and pull up on it to remove it.My previous filtered water pitcher (PUR) had a little lever, ergonomically placed at the back where you can use your thumb to press down and the lid to the reservoir lifts up all the way so that, with that same hand you can hold the pitcher under the faucet, while simultaneously using the other hand to open the faucet to fill the reservoir; release the lever, the lid falls into place, and then you place the pitcher on the countertop … or rather in in the case of ZeroWater, the refrigerator, because from what I’ve read, you don’t want to leave the ZEROWater pitcher out in the regular air, else it starts growing bacteria/mold. So I immediately put it into the fridge.I’m not complaining about the fridge bit, I’m complaining about the lid that has to be removed … AND the crazy thing is, there’s this thing that APPEARS to be a grip for pulling the lid off, BUT it doesn’t work because it’s totally slick. There should be some reasonable amount of texture, ridges, a little layer of rubbery-something to allow for your fingers to be able to grip the thing for cryin’ out loud.So the water is great. But the design is not. Hopefully my colorful review will be read by the ZeroWater folks and they’ll reconsider their design. I hope so.

Bra och säker vattenkanna , behöver inte byta filter ofta. Använder min enbart till min Cpap maskin, så mycket smidigare än att koka upp vatten för den varje kväll.

Convenient and does an excellent job of water purification. The TDS meter is easy to use, the jug is a good size and fits in the fridge well giving a convenient and safe supply of water.Removing all particles which can be confirmed using the TDS gives confidence in the product and peace of mind.Well Done Zero Water
