The Profoto LP2000C is a newcomer LED fixture designed for cinema applications, and during Cine Gear, we had a chance to talk to Rod Aaron Gammons, Global Head of Cinema at the company, to find out more about the strategy of bringing such a light to the market and what qualities it holds.
Profoto is a Swedish company that was founded in 1968. Its specialty is developing professional photography lighting equipment, and now, due to the rapid changes in our industry, it has decided to develop a line of LED panels specifically designed for professional filmmakers and cinematographers who need powerful, portable lighting solutions for demanding film sets.

LP2000C in a nutshell
The LP2000C operates within a wide color temperature range of 2000K to 15000K with adjustable green/magenta correction. Its color rendering performance is impressive, with a CRI of 97, TLCI of 97, SSI Tungsten (3200K) of 86, and SSI D55 of 74. The fixture is powered by its “Core LED engine” and features constant current dimming, ranging from 0.1% to 100%, with multiple dimming curves available.
Power consumption varies by voltage: maximum 2000W at 240V/15A, or 1600W at 120V/15A. The unit accepts both 100-127V and 200-240V input at 50-60Hz through a Neutrik PowerCon True 1 connector. It is also worth noting that since this light is ballast-free, the company was able to reduce its weight to 25kg.
Some defusing and light shaping options will be available, but for now, the most noticeable one is from DoPChoice.

Availability and pricing
The LP2000C is available for pre-order at $12,995 on B&H, CVP and authorized dealers, with shipping scheduled for Q3 2025.
