Sony has officially responded to a common complaint from BURANO users – color inconsistencies under strong lighting, commonly known as IR pollution – by offering a free IR cut filter replacement.
Ever since the BURANO launched, many users in the global production community have voiced concerns about unwanted color shifts—particularly a green cast—when shooting under intense sunlight or studio lights. Today, Sony is taking concrete steps to resolve this with a newly developed infrared (IR) cut filter designed to improve color fidelity in these harsh lighting environments.
BURANO IR cut filter replacement free of charge
The IR filter replacement is completely free of charge (including parts and labor) and will be available through May 31, 2026, on a first-come, first-served basis. BURANO owners are encouraged to reach out to their local Sony service center to schedule the replacement. Units that already feature a visible protrusion on the upper part of the front optical filter component are confirmed to have the improved IR cut filter pre-installed and do not require service.

What to do: get BURANO IR cut filter exchanged for free
